NOW, I read people saying they want a fast tourney, while complaining in other threads that they are angry because they were facing "donks" in the qualifiers, and don't want them at their table, etc. etc. etc.....
A fact:
Long and deep tourney structures promote Poker skills and the "thinking" player. Fast blinds and smaller stacks promote LUCK with the cards, all-ins, coinflips, Donk plays, etc.
Anyone who disagrees with this, please read a book on Poker Tournament Basics before replying to these statements.
Another fact:
This is by far the best chance for ANY of us to get a chance to play in the WSOP. It is "The Best" offer on the Net, bar none! Only 162 players!
Last fact:
The WSOP is a "Poker Player" or "thinking" Poker player tourney with a huge starting stack size (I think 20.000) and 1 hour blinds. Any player who cannot play decently after the Flop, and therefore has to resort to frequent all-ins to make his chips, will NOT last longer than the first couple of hours on day 1 of the WSOP.
Conclusion:
Speaking for myself, I think this tourney is VERY important, I don't "expect" to make the final table, but I would like to have the feeling afterwards that I tried, that I played my best game, and that I don't get busted by someone hitting A's, K's, or runner runner straights for a couple of hours, and proving that a short 162 man tourney comes down to a lucky streak. This we know already is often the case.
@admin: I also believe BRM would prefer the person who wins the package to actually get somewhere in the WSOP. The publicity would be priceless.
OK. These are my thoughts on the "structure" issue.

Unfortunately we can't change it now. Management decided to keep it as it is since that's how it was announced and we don't want to change it now that everybody has qualified.
I know this might suck for some, especially the players who handles a deep tournament better than others.
We'll just have to do better next year if we do another WSOP promo then

Funny...
That's not the point B1gfoot, but I guess you know that. I have no problem playing Turbo's, be they Tourneys or S&G's. It's a question of variance, and any all-in donk can get lucky on any given day. That's why the live tournaments have slow blind increases. Internet Poker is a "turnover" business, and the turbo's and superturbo's are just more profitable for them because they use less server time and the turnover is much faster. The WSOP caters to the smart, experienced, thinking player (not that I'm pretending to be one of those players...yet ) and not to the Push or Fold agression style of play that turbo's and faster play cater to. Anyway, especially for the new players, this long bla bla...
And skip the "Super Turbo" thing B1gfoot , we might as well hold a lottery next year then.
