Sorry T3ddy, but that doesn't make sense at all. There are NO Tournaments where the buy-ins are less than the GTD prize money.
check out Ipoker for instance. 4K GP $2 buyin, 10K GP $5 buyin. im not 100% sure but i think there was also a 5K GP for only $1 buyin or at least it was a 2.5K GP participants at these tournys 300 up to max 7/800 players.
just checked out for you.....10K GP only $5 buyin 725 players
edit: yup that are rebuy tournys, the freezout only cost twice the amount of the rebuy tourny. ofc theres some that cost $30 or more but therefore theres less players.
Whilst occasionally GTD MTTs will run below their expected fields. They will quickly disappear form the schedule if this happens more than a couple times..
they have been runnig for ages and i doubt it will change. its also a part of the promotion to keep players at their network. its peanuts for them.. probably a small room with a handfull of players might cancel such tournys cos they cant afford..

i have no idea, thats something you either have to ask the poker room or keep track of all the tournys. but yesterday i played 4 GP tournys and 3 of them didnt even reach 75% of the GP (one not even 50%) - yes its including the rebuys.
