Poker History (The Beginning)  +1
Don't know if this is of interest to you Mobsters, but here's a little history on the beginning of poker.

Similar game started by Chinese back in 969 A.D.
Spanish "Primero dates to 1526. (refered to as "Pokers Mother" Blink
French "Poque" and Germans "Pochen" 17th & 18 th century.
Jonathon Green "The Cheating Game" in 1834.
5 Card Draw during and around Civil War times.
7 Card Draw shortly before and 40 years after WWII.
Hold'em referred to as "Cadillac of Poker" rose in the 1970's and was featured in WSOP.

It's a brief out line of our favorite game for those who are interested. Just thought it'd be a nice post, maybe not to some. Good Luck to all and Good Day!

I read somewhere that Texas Hold'em was invented in the the early 1900:s, by a bunch of cowboys (seven, I think they were, but I'm not sure) that couldn't all be in the pokergame, because there wasn't enough cards. Thus the five community cards..

Edit: No, they where probably not 7, since there would have been enough cards for them. 15? Not that it matters.

I´ve read up on it, so I knew. Smile

But still, a nice concise history.
I´m sure this will be interesting for a lot of Mobsters who are not aware of Poker´s rich history.
Nice.

I'd love to see more post's on poker's history, I've read some, there's always something more you could add though. Use to read the history section in poker player magazine they were running for a while. Love little stories like about A8 being the dead man's hand because Wild Bill was shot dead with it in his hand Aces full of eights in a 5 card draw game.... I'm such a history buff, love it almost as much as poker....almost Cool
