2011 WSOP: Ben Lamb took down the $10k PLO Championship for $814,436!

Congratulations to Ben Lamb, winner of Event #42: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship. But boy was it close that he almost lost all his chips in the final hand. Below you can see how the last super-exciting hand between Ben Lamb, from Las Vegas, and Sami Kelopuro, from finland, was played out. Both players had equal amount of chips when Kelopuro bet 240,000 preflop on the button, Lamb called. [...]   Read more » 2011 WSOP: Ben Lamb took down the $10k PLO Championship for $814,436!

I believe this has been one of the biggest first prizes from this year's WSOP, all others i've read about were around $650k. And this final hand should have cut the breath of both players. Now, correct me if i am wrong, because i am no expert at Omaha, but in the text we can read "Kelopuro had top 2 pairs and needed to dodge all spades and 2s, 3s, 4s, and 5s" and if the river would bring 3s it would give victory to Kelopuro, right? With 3 (not spades) at the river Lamb wouldnt do straight.

This was quite an interesting world series of poker event, definately Lamb was not one of the favourites at the beginning of the game, but well, this is poker after all, especially since they've played pot limit omaha Big Smile

COngratulations for him, his game was really good, but only after his win and after reading some articles about him i actually found out that he is a really good live pot limit omaha player in Las Vegas, so you can't say he is not a pot limit omaha pro for that matter, just that he wasn't a favourite at the beginning Smile

It's odd that none of the big favourites and here i'm clearly talking about Tom Dwan durrrr wasn't able to win a world series of poker bracelet and event this year...

interesting last hand considering both players had almost same chips, anyway congrats to Lamb on winning the tournament.
@ macubaas - Tom dwan is more of a cash game player and he's likely to bust out soon with his crazy aggressive style.
