Also had the same problem with my laptop a few years ago - it had windows vista but the hardware was too weak to handle it...
What I'd recommend and what I did was using something to save your important datas on it,and reinstall windows. Not sure if that's the best solution though.

1. Back up any data you need -> copy it on an USB-Stick or a HDD

Do you have a Recovery disk for your computer? If you have one, put it in the CD/DVD drive and follow the instuctions.

You will have to set up your inet and reinstall all poker software after the new system is installed.

This is ALL not true.

Just install an anti-spyware program and let it scan. Then remove all spyware, that should do the trick. IF NOT then contact me and I will help you formatting (removing whole windows and reinstalling it again). I owe you that Smile

BeMyATM is right. Re-installing windows is straightford so long as you have the original Windows Vista DVD. The most important thing is to back everything that you can't afford to lose. You can get a cheap external hard drive for this. Also make a note of all the programs you have installed and bakup the installers if you have them.

If you don't have the original DVD or a copy of it there are many places on the web where you can download it but you will need your Windows product code which should be on a label somewhere on the latpop. If you can't find the product key download this keyfinder and run it http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/

Once you have backed up and got the key just stick the Vista DVD in the drive and re-boot, it should start from the DVD and ask if you want to re-install.

Good Luck

a reload of the operateing system sounds drastic,, try this first ,, http://www.superantispyware.com/

also download CCleaner which is a free system cleaning tool easily googled,, if this doesnt work try a system restore this option can be found by going to start, all programs , system tools , or accessories( select the oldest restore point available),, also download a good free anti-virus utility such as (AVAST-antivirus) this is also a freeware program

download avast and the antispyware , both are free, run a scan with both, remember to reboot as instructed after the scans , both scans will take some time perhaps as long as an hour depending on how much stuff you have on your com,, be patient, you might have to tweek the anti-virus to allow some programs , but do the scans first , go to control panel, remove programs and go through all your programs , remove everything you dont need , defrag your harddrive this option can be found in the start-all programs , system tools section, this also will take some time hours even if you have not done it for some time!

this also is a really good 1 button maintenence program try it and see,, it is free,,,this will also defrag your registry and clean it . it can also optimise memory have a look its simple

since you have so many problems and the laptop is 3 years old the best thing you can do is format-reinstall windows from the beginning.
Even after defrag and scan for viruses and stuff its 100% sure that your computer will have lots of unwanted crap slowing it down.
So back up the files you need if you have more than one hard drives format them and then reinstall windows in main hard disk.
The difference will amaze you Smile
I format and reinstall at least twice per year Smile

Hey arsenej, I had a similar problem with my other laptop recently - also a three year old Toshiba. I was running it without anti-virus (we don't use this computer much), when my wife downloaded a very persistent virus. The first rainy day that came along I reinstalled the operating system, installed Avast antivirus and Lavasoft AdAware, and now it runs like a charm! GL

You need your origonal disk or a new one you should be able to register it with your origonal OEM but if you got the restore it would be a lot easier as it will have the right drivers. I don't want to say its hard but if you have never done it before it might get trick. Is your hard drive partitioned if it is then put any files you want on the partition , if not dont forget to back up all the stuff you want.
As for anti virus I dont use it that much I use something called go back or smart card but its quite time consuming to explain exactly what both are so maybe stick to the antivirus.

But if you really want to know more let me know as I am in fact a total expert on this type of stuff I do this type of stuff for a living for about 15 years or so.
