We would recommend Lunarpages if you want to create a website, it's not free, but their personal starter hosting is less than $3 a month. Then you can some of their "free web scripts" to create your website, e.g. a WordPress blog that will make it very easy for you to create pages or blog posts.

there is one site that allows you to create free websites- webs.com ,they don't have any charges for basic website(html), but if you want css , php or other advanced scripts you will have to pay.

The problem with free sites - where you don't have the domain yourself, is if the hosting company decides to shut you down, or goes bankrupt or something.
Like if we didn't have bankrollmob.com, but instead bankrollmob.webs.com, then if webs.com decides to shut us down due to too much bandwidth used or whatever, or they are no longer in business, we would have lost the domain - which is very important, just like the data

I was just going to say webs.com but you beat me to it
with webs on free hosting you get 20 webpages you can allso inport videos direct from youtube and even have a fourum on your site.
The one problem with the free site is that thay will put a goolge addsence add at the top but you can move this by puting a searce bar at the botom of the page and it will move the add to the bottom leaving the top for your own add's
Don't know if this works all free sites but it works on the webs site.

Yes that is true but for someone who is just testing the water as to say it is a good site and if it works then you can look at piad hosting. And there is nothing stoping you from geting your own domian name and directing it to your free site or any outher site at a later date.

If you create one of those cheap webistes I mentioned above and install WordPress on it (should be very easy for everybody), you can submit your website's sitemap (like a directory) to google, then google will index your site. Then it's just a matter of spreading your link around the internet and get some visitors.
