Live, 8 handed. I've been sitting for about 2 hours, and I'm playing tag, but more lag than anyone else. I've been opening pretty wide in all positions, but i'm really sure if anyone is playing back at me, but it's fair to say I've been pretty active pre. This is the first time villain has 3bet me, and the 2nd time overall I believe. The only reads I have on villain, is that he looks nittish, but stupid.
Hand:
stacks:
Hero 10k
Villain 13k
I raise in MP to 100 with 88, folds to CO who makes it 400, I call.
FLOP:
8 T J r. I lead for 580, villain raises to 1700, I think for a sec and call.
Turn:
A Theres like 4300ish in the pot, I have about 8k left.

Fold too his reraise, 88 not that good. But u didnt and get a really nice flop set 888. Turn A, like shokaku said only KQ, 9Q, AA, TT and JJ have you beat (sry mate ). He as a nit, so reraise with KQ/9Q? Dont think so, TT,JJ? Problably not. So imo you only have to worry for AA (guess range is AA, KK, QQ).
Imo with a set 888, it wud be very hard NOT to shove it all in for me (on turn). But hey me just a lucky donk
Btw i wud shove it allin after his reraise on the flop.....

Mhhh. We will pay him off anyway, if he has us beat. So calling the turn and letting him bluff or bet weaker holdings on the river seams to be the better option for me.

I get ur point but its kinda strange to me cos i wud shove the flop after his reraise. (I wud fold his reraise preflop btw...) I know we must get as much value out off these hands as possible so many people wud just call his reraise on turn. Just a matter off diffirent play....

I'm getting all my chips in on the flop here after the re-raise, no way I'm letting it go any further whilst I'm ahead, which you have to be. Set over set it very unlikely (odds are 60-1?) and you can't put him on Q9. Also, not many people are folding once they've re-raised, he's likely to call a push.
I do tend to agree with shokaku as well though, obviously it depends on what read you have on the player.. Is he re-raising with AJ,AQ,AK? or just TT and above?
