Brian Townsend is one of the writers at Cardrunners that have reached "Red Pro Status" at Full Tilt Poker. He is also known under the alias "sbrugby" at Full Tilt. He has been dominating the games with the highest limits on the net. During his time at Cardrunners he got a contract with Full Tilt Poker to become one of their sponsored pros. Just like all the other pros at Full Tilt he had to start playing with his real name as his alias which is flagged in red in the poker lobby when he sits at the tables. Brian Townsend is now admitting that he has not been following this rule, he has also been playing under the alias "Stellarnebula" during his time as a pro at Full Tilt Poker. He also admits that he has been doing the same thing at PokerStars by using the alias "Markersmark66" instead of his real account which is "aba20".

He is now apologizing and he claims to be very ashamed about the whole situation after letting down his partners at Cardrunners and Full Tilt. He claims that he never did this to get an unfair advantage over the other players by using both accounts at the same time at the tables. He also promised to donate $25 000 to charity, this donation will be deducted from the commission he has at Cardrunners.

Full Tilt Poker has announced that the player will now lose his pro status at Full Tilt for 6 months time. PokerStars have yet to make a statement about the using of multiple accounts on their site.

So much for their duplicate account preventing methods.

Yes I heard about this, which got me thinking. Imagine someone without red pro status doing this and admitting it....they would get their account locked, banned from site and could probably also say goodbye to the money on the account. But not B. Townsend no no it was just a mistake ooops I won't do it again Tongue lol he will even donate a litlle part of the money he cheated out of people what a great man, I hope it cleared his conscience Tongue

As usual, some people are more equal than others. But this seemed to be not to uncommon. Patrick Antonius is to be known to have a bunch of accounts too.

Really sad thing, i want to know the reason for his action..
 B1gfoot17/09/2008 13:43:14 GMT
The reason is simple to have anonymity, id want the same, do you think id want to play aginast the ppl iv just tought, nope, or aginst a table trying to gun down 1 person with the world of stats at hand, nope.
They should be issued with 2 names and hide behind one of them, or, like i would just go elsewere, townsend is one of the best teachers and full tilt will miss him.
If this was on pokerstars id say ok ban etc, but on fulltilt you could do much worse :}

yes abusing his position of power at the table,he knows how all the high limit players play then he plays wih a new name and they confused cauz he so good at reading there plays, and taking there money, not quit fair, and those same players would play him different if they new his pro name,he should have his account frozen, kicked off the site and all money given back to the losing players,oh i donat $25000 big deal he pprobably won 1 million easy.he get poker Karma one day it bite him in the arse. Big Smile
 B1gfoot17/09/2008 14:19:40 GMT
But why, ok so now he has the unfair advantage under a new name, so when he plays with old name he is at diasadvantage right, so no one wins.
He like iv said should have a metor name and a poker player name, ultimitly he is there to play and win money, but not when teaching.
After this if i was a pro id say screw you all, go learn by youself thats if i dont take all your money first.
 M3turbo17/09/2008 15:00:57 GMT
You got it wrong B1gfoot. When he became red pro he knew the conscequences of it. Which is 100% rakeback and a public name. So he should only do it if he could live with the changes. You can't justifie cheating ! String him up by the balls and throw rotten eggs at him, weak hustler bum Evil
 B1gfoot17/09/2008 17:03:55 GMT
I know what you are saying, but i can see why he did it, probably wise to play elswere with a new name but I think he is now tied to them so thats a no aswell, maby he should just have not took the position like you say.

Yeah I don't understand the man, he's pretty sharp I think but why did he put him self in bad light? If he was feeling bad about it why not just stop with it? Why is he doing this to him self? He didn't care and then suddenly he has to come forward Confused

Edit: seen from pokerplayers eyes Cool weird line he took Tongue

Yep. Lame excuses. Stop running hot on one account? Simply make another one. Shock
And "feeling bad about it"? About making those accounts, or about being caught doing so?

I cant beliave he could sign up for another account. How is this possible. If i should try to sign up for another account im not allowed. Either my IP is logged or my information is already in databank.
I think its more to this story then meets the public eye.
All the big sites take very big caution to prevent money laundry, bonus abuse etc etc. So how come a player they support can be able to sign up for 2 accounts. Its not so he can sit on his own computer and play both account he have to have different IP adress for both accounts. If it was any other player beside the pros who did something like this they would have been banned for life
HMMMMM Angry

it is punishable, even multiple people using the same account is punishable - americas card room shut down the account of dan bilzerian/pekins who were both playing on the account while live streaming
