Lately rumors have been circulating in Russian newspapers and in different forums on internet that the owner of Chelsea, Roman Abramovitj, lost his luxury yacht (picture) in a poker game when his team played in Barcelona. Roman Abramovitj is said to be a big gambler, but did he really lose his yacht worth millions of dollar!?

Rumors that Roman Abramovitj is a big gambler has been around for quite some time now. Even that he tried to avoid gambling live and instead started to gamble online to avoid publicity. Lately rumors that he lost his luxury yacht in a poker game have been circulating in different forums on the net. But the experts are really in doubt about this, and Roman's lawyers denies all this and also threatened to sue the newspapers in Moscow that wrote about it. They claim that he wasn't even there when the so-called game where he lost his yacht took place.

People near Abramovich already reported to the world in a confference this fact and the answer for journalist (mostly) was that everything was a lie, so I'm kinda confused about this, because I can easily believe in both according to Abramovich money and the journalist influence on the world !

Let's wait for more info...

My guess is that it didn't happen. It would make sense, seeing how it wouldn't be a big deal to him if he did lose the yacht...like everyone is saying, that yacht is like pocket change to him. Not only that, but his lawyers getting involved, threatening to sue and saying he wasn't even there..? Like, they wouldn't go threatening to sue a major Russian newspaper unless it was legit. Also, I'm sure that the kind of game he'd have been playing in wouldn't be out in the open in a big casino...it would be in a private room, maybe even someone's private residence. How credible could any source claiming Roman WAS there and DID lose his yacht really be??

Reminds me in Casino Royale where Bond wins an Aston Martin and the guys girlfriend too.

Lol yeah, reminds me that too. I wonder why rich guys don't bet with money as they have tons... but instead they bet expensive luxury stuffs, is that a new fashion?

This is not a lucky period for Abramovich: he lost his yatch at poker and his football team lost aganist Barcellona in the end of the match (ps what a goal Iniesta Big Smile ). Poor man Smile

I allways knew he was a fishy gambler. Played a bad hand for sure.
But he is capable of ultra weaktight moves too, like firing Mourinho, the poker equivalent of folding AA/KK PF.
Blink

New fashion, I don't know. It's probably not true because he was going to sue the newspaper but it would be funny, "I raise you 2 Lamborghinis" Smile

he had enough money, that was peanuts for him
 darthtony11/05/2009 10:21:38 GMT
i knew that he had a fullhouse of jack . And also i knew he didn't played his greater yacht, he had a lot of yacht and he betted the smallest .

But also i can't think to all that money for a poker game when my month gain is 700 €
 Fakiry11/05/2009 17:57:30 GMT
That can perfectly be true. We've got to have in mind that each and every millionaire is got to be a big gambler, or he couldn't reach the fortune. For instance, a doctor is someone who was smart enough to study medicin and start working at the area. From there to start collecting money Smile What makes an accounter? He gambles, he negociates! So, if Abramovich lost the boat, thats one of losts everybody knows of him. What is that compared to all the wins we know? Nothing...
 SuperNoob11/05/2009 18:26:23 GMT
lol, gud for the yacht
 Vishera12/05/2009 09:03:04 GMT
Chelsea number one!!!
 ifp13/05/2009 10:46:43 GMT
Wow, you have to have a very big bankroll, if losing one yacht doesen't get you little upset. Tongue
But if you are a real gambler, you try to win the amount back fast as possible. Big Smile
 Guiron13/05/2009 13:37:37 GMT
I don't think can be true, but rumors are that heis a big gambler.
