According to different poker forums and magazines, Phil Ivey has betted x-amount of money on himself to win the Main Event to x-times the money. According to one of his friends and teammates in team PokerStars, he would take home one of the biggest wins the world of poker has ever seen if he becomes the last man standing.

There are many rumors circulating on the web at the moment that Phil Ivey placed many bets on himself to win the main event at many of his rich friends. So, if he manage to take home the tournament in December this year, he will not only win $8,5 million in first prize, but also take home what some people say could be the biggest win ever on a bet. We are probably talking about many, many millions dollars, but we'll probably have to wait and see if Phil will reveal anything about this side bet in future interviews.

Considering that this year Phil made more money on side bets than at the poker table, I'll bet he wins these too lol

well this guy has self confidence Thumbs Up

such a bet isnt even that bad if you know you get far in the tourny, so you get your money back anyways. but i think when this guys bet on soemthing then its a big amount - see gus hansen.

Its very risky bet but i think he will cover that from his winnings from this year's main event. but if he wins it it will be one hell of a jackpot for him and the bookmaker will probably go bankrupt, lol
But its still a rumor , so who knows...........

Maybe. But i don't think those side bets are good for him. It allows other players to put pressure on him. Espacially the bigger stacks can put him all in without risking to much of their own stacks.

thats true, it will be ALOT better for him if he just dont say anything about this, until the final table is over.

He really should trust on his way of play to do something like that. Ok, he is the best from the final table, but he is way behind, he have to quadruple his stack: we are talking about going all in at least two times with someone with bigger stack so he can manage to be in the podium, and then continuing with the winnings. Not easy, but very pleasurant to watch. Lets see if he make it. Because if he does win the biggest bet ever, perhaps he will receive a Guinness award and upgrade even more his winnings. Guinnes pays $1.250 each month till the record is broken.

True. It 'll be very hard for Phil Ivey to win the Main Event, but if someone can do it, then its Ivey. Blink

Phil Ivey bet a lot of money, ussualy. Last year he bet one million dollars on A Super Cup match - final of american football championship. So? I won't be surprised if it's all come true
