It ended up being Daniel Santoro who took down the Foxwoods World Poker Finals, the $449,910 first prize, and his first WPT title. Santoro's road to the win could be described as a whirlwind, a roller-coaster, a yoyo, or a comeback and all would fit just fine.
Santoro arrived at the final table third in chips and he was 1 of the 3 large-stacks. Santoro played very well and had the poker gods on his side when he really needed them. After knocking out Carbone in 3rd place with pocket aces vs pocket 10s, Santoro entered heads-up with a 4-1 chip lead. Santoro's final opponent, Christian Harder, played very well and managed to double up through Santoro on 3 separate occasions and also overtook the lead from Santoro.
When the final table had passed the 200-hand mark, everything came to an end after this coin flip, wih Santoro holiday AA to Harder's 1010. The flop came out with a Jack-high on the table and the 2 on the turn only left Santoro with 6 outs. The river was a very dramatic one as it brought the K and gave Santoro the pot, the match, and his very first WPT title.
