After some live rock music, some confetti and Joe Hachem saying the classic words "shuffle up and deal", the 2011 Aussie Millions Main Event kicked off yesterday at the Crown Poker Room in Melbourne, Australia. The Day 1a field consisted of 209 players and many of them were big names in poker. After 5 levels of poker, 209 players had become 117 and the tournament crew called it a day. In the lead was Erick Lindgren with 186k, on third place Patrik Antonius with 176,500, and close behind him Carter Phillps with 162,500 chips.
Day 1b is being played at the moment. In the top of the field are notables such as Jeffrey Lisandro in 6th place with 65k and Gavin Griffin in 8th place with 63k. We will return with an update as soon as Day 1b comes to and end.
