PokerStars Sunday Storm attracted a massive player field

Tags: pokerstars sunday storm, Sunday 1-4 Million.
Posted on 29 March 2011 by "T".

PokerStars recently announced that the Sunday 1/4 Million tournament was changing name to Sunday Storm and the guarantee had been boosted to $1 million ($11 buy-in). However, no one was expecting that it would be such a huge sucess. An amazing 113,770-player field joined the tournament and created a $1,137,700 prize pool that paid 14,634 places.

After many long hours of play, the final table was set and 9 players were guaranteed at least $8,418 each. It ended up being Uvelir888, from Russia, playing heads-up against Dubble Ace from Sweden. Uvelir888 sent his opponent quite easy off the rail and laid hands on the first prize of $210,531. Dubble Ace got $111,494 for the runner-up spot. Both players must be extremely happy to survive such a big player field!

Huge field 113,000 players, wow. This must have had last at least 8 or 9 hours, if not more. I believe this tourney atracted many people because for those who would be doing their first deposit there, they won a ticket to this tourney. So many of the players could have money experience in other tables, but not in there. The final table guys should be players with nice experience.

I remember when FTP was holding the largest online tournament. Back then, 50 000 was the target. I was very fortunate to cash in on that tourney. But to out last 113 770 people. OMG, imagine that....

what the hell? So Pokerstars is just giving a tournament a new name and anybody is joining in ? This is really ridiculous, isnt it?

Not only giving a new name but also raising up the guaranteed price pool from 250k to 1 million.
And you can buy in for $11.
I guess these are the reasons why such a hugh amount of players joined in, dreaming about make it to final table.

Lol, only 9 hours. I know I bought in using the free ticket code. (I already had a play money account there from a long time ago so I figured I'd try out the big money tourney. Won $22.75.
