There has been plenty of live tournament action over the weekend with LAPT Chile, ANZPT Sydney, France Poker Series, and WSOPC Harrah's Rincon (the only tournament that isn't run by PokerStars) But yesterday was the most entertaining and exciting day since both the LAPT Chile and the ANZPT Sydney (main events) final tables were played...
Latin American Poker Tour Chile
The main event saw a field of 651 players. After 4 days of play, eight players returned to the Enjoy Casino & Resort in Vina del Mar to play the final table. It all came to an end after 5 hours hours of play with the winner being Aliro Diaz, from Chile, after knocking out fellow countryman Leonardo Olivares in second place. Due to a deal made by the last 6 players, Diaz got $76,560 instead of the $129,470. The second biggest winner finished in 4th place for $74,000.
Australia New Zealand Poker Tour Sydney
There were 27 of 461 players left in the main event yesterday when the final day kicked off. After only 5 hours, 9 players remained and the final table started straight away. Liam O'Rourke had a monster lead with his 3,4 million stack. O'Rourke, who had built his monster stack by playing very aggressive, continued playing well on the final table and ended up playing heads-up against Gordon Huntly, fighting for the the top prize of AUD$226,812. O'Rourke held a chip lead when the duel began, but only 30 minutes later Huntly suddenly had a 3-1 lead. The last hand (after about 7 hours of final table action), which was played early this morning, saw O'Rourke all in preflop holding K9 against Huntly's JJ. The board ran out 43Q74 and it was over. A well-deserved win by Huntly who only had 700k chips when the final table started.
