Nicolas Cage To Play Mike "The Mouth" Matusow In Upcoming Movie?

In May 2009, Mike "The Mouth" Matusow released his autobiography Check-Raising the Devil, a book that has it all: drugs, sex, partying, jail, suicidal depression, bipolar bouts and world champion poker. From the beginning the plan was to make a weekly TV-series of Check-Raising the Devil, but now it seems like it will be made into a movie instead!

The fact is that the production company 1984 Professional Defence Contractors (The Grey with Liam Neeson, Killing Them Softly with Brad Pit, etc.) already has started working on the photoplay of his book! It will be produced by Adi Shakar, Spencer Silna and David Islan, and apparently they have had talks with potential actors for the movie. According to a Swedish poker site, Mike Matusow said in an interview at the 2014 WSOP that Nicolas Cage is interested in the role as him!

This sort of film would be right up my street and i am looking forward to watching it. I love watching Mike at the tables and to see his life on film would be an amazing watch.Hurry up and release it!

Yes,it does sound like a great film if it is made but I really can't see Cage portraying Matusow as believable,to me Cage comes across as too 'Hollywood' and Mike Matusow is a man of the people with a complex character and a life full of excitement and challenges.
I could be biased,I have seen Ghost Rider!!

Just hope he'll try to make a better poker face than in his last movies.. If he goes for the same formula whenever he'll be playing an hand, everyone will think hes just sad and has some shitty cards lol

This should be fun to watch a must watch movie if it comes out , i watches all movies that relates to poker so good luck even if it is crap , i will try to watch it , talks about a gambling addict lol. Anyway have fun guys we always hear good stuffs at the WSOP , for this year a movie!! Keep going WSOP the events unfolding have been good so far. Cheers!

that's Hollywood for you: Mike "The Mouth" Matusow cannot actually play Mike "The Mouth" Matusow because Nicolas Cage is a lot better Mike "The Mouth" Matusow than the original Mike "The Mouth" Matusow.

Nicholas is overrated as an actor

I find his dramatic poses and skills so goddamn fake that I can't help but to laugh at it.

He would make a great comedian, but representing Mike the Mouth Matusow might be the perfect role for him to blossom to a rising career again.

Ben Affleck should do it at least you know he can play a little poker . Also I think he is a far better actor.

pochui is right, when you have the real deal alive and the story is about him why not using him as actor???

Well Cage would be great as the chatty massively over the top type guy. He's got that crazy streak in him.

Not sure Mikes life would be all that interesting on film though, depends how they portay it.

Nick is a great choice to do a poker player role. He has got all that it takes. I bet we will be seing him nervous without showing it too much. And in the final heads up we can watch him making a face off, bluffing his opponent and taking the first prize!

Now when I think about that, I can imagine Nicolas Cage playing Mike Matusow.

Nicolas Cage is an crazy actor, but it is all right, because Mike Matusow is crazy as well. Big Smile

Ahahahhaha that's awesome. I don't really see Nicolas Cage as Mike Matusow, but i do like his acting (a bit). I hope the project all the best.
