In case you missed it, a unique event called WPT Monster Invitational took place last Sunday at Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. The invited players were Scotty Nguyen, Antonio Esfandiari, Tony Dunst, Vanessa Selbst, Phil Laak and David Williams.
The latter was probably the least known of the participants but that didn't stop him from winning the event and a prize package worth more than $80,000*!
William defeated Mr. Phil Laak heads-up. In the final hand, Laak moved all in for 460k, and Williams snap-called with A5. Laak turned over Q9. The flop J106 gave Laak an open straight draw, but the remaining two cards - J5 - sent his final chips to Williams. According to Hendon Mob, David Williams has won $8.6 million playing live tournaments. His biggest cash to date was a second place finish in the WSOP 2004 Main event for $3.5 million!
