WSOP November Nine: Joe McKeehen Dominates Day 1

The first day of the 2015 World Series of Poker Main Event final table (played at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas) is over! 888poker sponsored player Joe McKeehen started with a massive chip lead (63 million - 160 bb) and was responsible for all three eliminations! Play concluded once he eliminated old-timer Pierre Neuville in 7th place.

"This has been one of the greatest experiences of my life," Neuville told the press afterward.  "I owe so much to so many people just for being here.  And to have this moment is more than I can express my thanks for.  I have been around for a long time.  Sometimes you run very good, and sometimes you run very bad and there is nothing you can do about that.  For me, it was a night I ran bad.  But, I have to say I ran very good at the WSOP this year and that's what I will remember."

"It went very well," McKeehen said. "There's still a lot of poker left to play. But I have to be very happy with how things went at the table tonight.  My goal is to continue playing my style.  But this was a good day, that's for sure."

When play resumes today, McKeehen will lead the final 6 players with 91,450,000 in chips! That's about half of the chips in play! Will anyone be able to stop him?

Joe McKeehen - 91,450,000
Ofer Zvi Stern - 32,400,000
Neil Blumenfield - 31,500,000
Max Steinberg - 16,000,000
Josh Beckley - 10,875,000
Thomas Cannuli - 10,425,00

can someone stop Joe McKeehen? well yeah, like anyone of the remaining players easily can if they turn on the "drunk russian in pokerstars freeroll" mode. if this happens joe's aces and/or kings have no chance against villains 26 off and other nuts. from the neutral point of view that would be much fun though...

My prediction is Neil is going to nail Joe down, eventually.

nah neil will soon be out... mckeehen will win... heads up will be mckeehen vs stern Blink

Hmm...
Now Pierre (the oldest at the table) got eliminated in 7th place, unfortunately, my money is on the second oldest player.
But, realistically, it will be a difficult task for Blumenfield (and for Stern and other 3 players) to take McKeehen down with a 3 to 1 or more chip disadvantage at the moment.

Good luck, everyone.

mckeehen play preaty tight, and in heads up or in 3-way game, he could easy lose chip lead if he continue like that to play... I hope he will losen up a little and try to steal some pots Blink as I said I think he will win it for sure Blink

Yeah, he's been tight!
Probably he will change gears once the table becomes 4 or 3-handed.
