The PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Malta Poker Festival is set to become the biggest event in EPT history, with over 30 cash game tables running 24/7 and 69 tournaments over the course of 12 days (March 17-28).

The highlights of EPT Malta will be the €5,300 Main Event, which will be streamed on PS's website from March 24th, and a €25,500 buy-in High Roller on March 18. In addition, there will be a charity event on March 21 where all proceeds will go towards Right To Play, PokerStars' official charity partner. Right To Play uses the power of sport and play to transform children's lives. This year, over 2,500 volunteers from around the world will help change the lives of 185,000 children.

Fatima Moreira de Melo, Team PokerStars SportStar and Right To Play ambassador, said: "For me, one of the most fun ways to raise money and awareness for charity is by playing poker. Right To Play is a fantastic charity that I'm honoured to be associated with, and I can't wait to represent them at EPT Malta."

"It's with great pleasure that we bring the EPT to Malta," said Michael Holmberg, General Manager of PokerStars Europe. "We've been working behind the scenes for many months to make this event happen, and we couldn't be more excited to welcome poker players from all over the world to the home of PokerStars Europe. Our biggest tournament schedule ever, combined with one of the most favourable climates on the planet, will make EPT Malta a truly memorable event."

Awesome! I have always enjoyed watching the EPT broadcasts. As doubletop777 said, the high roller especially will be very interesting to follow. Looking forward to it!

The EPT have some great tournaments and always get the best players who say the EPT is a win they would love to have. For only one player to have managed to win the main event twice shows the quality of the competition.

European Poker Tour (EPT) has become one of the best poker events
i find them interesting and have good players
i wish someday i get to play in one
Malta is trying to set a record obviously
i have a terrible internet connection so i can't watch the stream on pokerstars
and €5,300 main event buy-in is pretty decent but small enough to get huge field

Over 2,500 volunteers will help change the lives of 185,000 children. Those are some pretty exact numbers if you ask me, I couldn't even name another organization which would say this much time before the year ends how big of their outreach will be - even on ballpark numbers. Either they have a mathwiz accountant or the money portioned up already before even arrived...

I hope, that there are going to be EPT live freerolls on Ppokerstrs again running together with the main event. I think I have played all of them so far this year and although I have not been too successful in them I like it.

They have an overly bloated playerpool for a relativly small prizepool, but sometimes they can be fun if you can afford two or three hours of folding.

Yes you are absulutely right about the extremely large fields in these freerolls, but the prizepool is not too bad. If I do remember correctly it have been 1.500 dollars in the past tournaments and for Ppokerstrs this is very much.

It's not bad if you end up top10 since it's free (that is why it will be +EV for some), but freerollers have bad payouts/hour if you calculating your invested time - that's why nobody should stress it if they drop out before ITM.

For a professional poker player or someone who can earn money playing cash game it is true, that these freerolls are not worth the time you invest in them. But for people who mostly play freerolls the EPTs are at least better than any BRM freeroll.
