A week after the wedding of two poker professionals Jason and Natasha Mercier in Southern Florida, they both made it to the final four tables of the Seminole Hard Rock Rock ‘n' Roll Poker Open main event, a tournament with a buy-in of $3,500.

The event had a total of 760 entrants. The Mercier newlyweds were eliminated back-to-back, finishing in 35th and 36th place, for a prize of $11,430 each.

Jason Mercier, age 30, is an American poker pro from Hollywood Florida, and has won five WSOP bracelets and one European Poker Tour title. He's named WSOP player of the year this 2016. As of June 2016, his live tournament wins exceed $17,200,000. His 52 cashes at the WSOP account for over $4 million of those winnings.

Natasha (Barbour) Mercier, age 29, was born in Beirut, Lebanon and is a Tampa-based poker pro. Although she originally came to the country to study, she eventually transitioned into making a living playing cash games and tournaments. She has already accumulated $317,580 in lifetime tournament earnings. On August 28, 2016, she placed 23rd in the EPT 13 in Barcelona, Spain, winning €38,410 (or $43,315).

can rejoice that a new family has similar interests .. this is a good family is very important ... I wish them a long life together and a good game to claim the most favorite game ... I have it, unfortunately, not so

Nice story there.
I wonder how they finished that game.
Was there any collusion at first, one did favors to another etc, if they met at the tables
before busting out Smile
Probably they acted like professionals, and played every hand normal.
But its love so you never know lol.

Hehe I have seen that happen in home games but never in a real tournament like this. The odds of this happening are so low too! I didn't even know Jason Mercier had a wife.

I don't think there's any real collusion but I'm sure they respect eachother's bets a lot more in order to not bust each other. That's what anyone would do if they played against someone they love in a big buy-in event.

probably because when the first Mercier went out the other had to go out too as he'll not wait for ages for the other one to go busto to go home so maybe they had a deal before that game Big Smile

Probably they will know more each other too in terms of "pokerfaces" Smile
They must have better readings, than they have with the other players.
It will be interesting with a case like this on a final table.
There lost of things can happen Smile

That's nice news, that they boath reach the final table in a tourney a week after their wedding. So they have a great start for their future and enough money for the honeymoon holdiday Blink It was interesting to see, which tourney they play in the future.

yeah obviously one didn't want to wait for other, so all-in with 26off was the obvious move to make, quite strangely this amazing rag hands didn't win, but hey sometimes odds do hold up. congrats to the merciers, surely they will show to mercy for their opponents at the tables.
