Willie Nelson is an 85-year-old American musician, singer and songwriter whose critical success of the albums ‘Shotgun Willie' (1973), ‘Red Headed Stranger' (1975), and ‘Stardust' (1978) made him one of the most recognized artists in country music.
Aside from being a country music icon and actor, everybody knows Willie Nelson loves marijuana. In fact, smoke shops located in Amsterdam named award-winning strains in his honor. He even has his own personal strain known as ‘Willie Nelson Reserve'.
Willie Nelson turns out to be also very good at high-stakes poker, albeit in a different way.

It has been known that some poker players would buy shots of tequila or a round of drinks to help loosen up the action. A sensible poker player will do just about anything to gain the upper hand at the tables, and they will definitely take any chance they get especially if their opponents' inhibitions are lower than the norm.
Let's get back to Willie Nelson. As he loves weed, he takes it daily. He is actually smoking the stuff for over 60 years (he apparently started in the 1940s when he was 11 or 12) and will still smoke until the day he dies. Recently, he admitted that he took advantage of friends by smoking them under the table, then challenging them to play some high-stakes poker games, and defeat them in a ruthless way.
Willie Nelson started playing poker over 50 years ago. According to Merle Haggard, one of his most famous songs was written at a poker table.
In a NY magazine article published in 2015 ‘Willie Nelson's Crusade to Stop Big Pot', he admitted he once took Woody Harrelson for $40,000. Toby Keith even wrote a song about Willie's treacherous deed at the tables. As written in the article, "A consequence of all this highness is that Nelson's tolerance is supernatural. He can easily smoke 30 or 40 hits in a session and then play a flawless two-hour show. He does not always deploy this talent toward noble ends. He is famous for smoking new friends to oblivion and then challenging them to a few hands of high-stakes poker. Willie's game is cash-only, and all debts must be settled at the table. This has led to stories among his intimates of the time he refused to let Woody Harrelson leave the room until he could deliver $40,000 in cash. It has also led to more than one folk song about the perils of smoking with Nelson, including a Toby Keith ballad with the refrain "I'll never smoke weed with Willie again" and a new jingle introduced by Jack Johnson at Farm Aid this year whose chorus revolves around the line "Willie got me stoned and took all my money."
These days, the high-stakes games are set at his Paia home located on the northern coast of Maui. Rumors say it happens each Monday evening at his oceanfront pad and they take the table outside whenever the weather is nice. Aside from Harrelson, other guests who frequent his pad include: renowned NBA coach Don Nelson, country singer Jamey Johnson, Kris Kristofferson, Billy Bob Thornton, Matthew McConaughey, brothers Owen and Luke Wilson, and Toby Keith, among others.
It's hard to believe like a man how is it Willie Nelson has smoked the grass when he was 11 or 12 years. Occasionally yes but in Snoop Dogg style i do not think so. I am amused that he it has ,,sequestered'' on Woody Harrelson, until he paid his debt of $ 40,000. It's interesting that he playing poker with success. If he smokes weed with his friend and after that win their money to poker, it means that he takes advantage of this and probably his friends were upset on him.
I do like these kinds of stories and this is a particularly good one. I can only imagine what kinds of states some of these people were getting into to and Woody Harrelson must have been a sight for sore eyes on this day

Not sure what this have to do with Willie Nelson, but yeah most of the time this modell looking dearlers are just another unfair advantage to the casinos.

interesting story about a musician who also like to smoke pot and when he smoke very much he play good poker ha ha ha, I think this is something why I not have good results in poker, I not smoke pot, bad situation it is not legal in my country. maybe some time in future
good never before had heard that nickname hahaha and less in a musician who as I just learned is also a poker player hahaha in the pit and is walking with his years ensima but that does not stop him from fighting the other players and make them suffer a little
