A retired dentist bested the young ones at the WSOP Circuit Main Event this week, outlasting a field of 1,050 players to win his very first WSOP gold circuit ring and the cash prize worth $294,290, and the best thing about it – he got in via a $220 satellite seat!
The 72-year-old from Ukraine also gets a free seat to the 2019 Global Casino Championship scheduled in August at Harrah’s Cherokee.
So far this is his best live cash to date, since he usually plays in local events with smaller buy-ins. This tournament was still within his means as he practically earned his seat into the main event through a lucky $220 satellite.
He said, “Frankly, I really like playing poker. I just have fun playing. My son is also playing and he told me ‘you’re playing well. Take your time and in the future, you will win something.’ Well, the future came early.” He says the money will really help his family out.
