Running a poker room is a good business when managed properly. The biggest threat to you as a poker room operator is churn. Churn is when you lose players for various reasons that may directly or indirectly be your fault. The best strategy is to reduce the reason for churn by improving the poker room to meet the needs of your players. You can elevate different areas of your poker room to keep players happy and engaged. In this article, we will discuss 6 of these methods, let's get right in!

Game Speed

Increasing the game speed is an underrated poker room solution for operators. Players prefer rooms that are quick and convenient. Offer players rapid and turbo tables which have increased speeds that suit most players. Players who prefer a slower experience can opt for your basic poker experience where the game is adequately paced. You should also remember that the more hands are played, the higher your rake. Therefore, introducing these faster tables increases your earnings. Fast and smart fold tables can also be introduced to increase the speeds of games and prevent players from being idle.

New Variants

Having poker variants in your poker rooms improves the overall experience for players. It is important to have the most common variants available while also having less common options. This gives players a chance to play their favorite games while discovering new variants which create new experiences. It is important to have a system that exposes players to all the variants available in your poker rooms. This gives the lesser-known variants a chance to get discovered by players. You can switch out the variants available weekly while keeping player favorites on your roster.

Use Reliable Software

The best way to keep players coming back is to have a reliable poker room devoid of technical difficulties. This is why you must use a reliable service provider with stable servers. They must also have an active customer service team that can attend to any issues that arise on the fly. The provider must also have a smooth onboarding process that makes it easier for new players to start playing. They should also prioritize player safety through proper encryption processes and the protection of user data. Most importantly, the provider must have a smooth UI and be fun to use.

Increase the Pot Amount

Increasing the pot amount is a great way to increase your rake while also making your tables fun. While unlimited tables may be a great idea (especially for whales) most players are happy knowing there is an upper limit. The best way to increase the pot is by introducing an Ante. The Ante is a set mandatory bet that all players must make to the pot before the initial round of cards are dealt. This raises the pot amount while also raising the stakes for players and improving the playing experience. You should also have tables with different pot limits to cater to player needs.

Reduce Commission Percentage

Poker room operators know that the easiest way to increase the rake is by raising the commission percentage. Raising the commission percentages can increase churn and reduce your customer retention. While this may be tempting to do, it is always better to reduce your commission in exchange for players playing longer sessions. When players play for longer, your low commissions add up and give you more money in the long run. Effectively, this strategy sacrifices short-term gain in exchange for customer retention and future profits. Use a rakeback system that appeals to players and encourages them to play for longer hours.

Keep Players Engaged

Poker rooms do not make money when players lose money as the games are against other players. Poker is different from card games like blackjack where players compete directly against the house. The rake (percentage of the pot) is how poker rooms make money. Therefore, the more pots available, the more money the poker room will make. You need to keep your players active and engaged if you want to make the most money from your gaming sessions. You should implement features that prolong the stack, diversify gameplay, and improve player experiences. Features like cashout insurance and double board make each round more dynamic and improve the play times which increases your poker room revenue.

The rakeback used to be better . Now it is become worse and worse every next year. Poker rooms become greedy . Ofcourse the rake is their profit , but they must not become completely greedy , or else players will start leaving them .

I think that's one of the reasons why players started playing more and more at GGpoker and playing less on PokerStars . PokerStars changed to chest reward program ending the previous very successfully VIP program plus the VIP and depositors' generous freerolls , then made it worse recently by demanding more rake rto give some rakeback per month 20$ min instead of 3.3$ ) , also tbey cut the cash freerolls . I mean you see other poker rooms that are not so big as PokerStars and yet they keep on having some cash freerolls .

So poker rooms need not to be so greedy . I think some new poker rooms at the beginning they offer good rake back and they charge less rake ,but later , when the many players register and play at the poker room , then they become greedy . This is bad business imo .

I remember Daniel Negreanu saying that more rake is better for the players and the poker ecosystem . Most idiotic thing a poker player has ever said .

That's right friend, the rooms must improve in the rakeback, before it used to be better, now it is completely different, if they want more players to play poker and not leave those who are already in, this should change.

If they read this, I think they will listen to you!
 antonis32115/09/2024 16:43:15 GMT
The truth is they don't listen to anyone, they do as they please. Of course it is their business, their money , but on the other hand maybe sometimes it's good to hear clients' complaints . Cause when they become too many , then customers will start leaving .

But as I said they don't listen usually . Some of them they don't give a sh** for their players , like PokerStars , they used to have representatives in many forums , but they decided to take them back , so now if you have a complaint , you have to chat or email their support team directly formally , which btw is not so friendly or helpful , but arrogant , and snob to micro or nano players . If they don't like nano or micro stakes players , then stop having these stakes at your fu**ING lobby . Lol

 SaleBonum15/09/2024 17:58:24 GMT
I agree
 dule-vu15/09/2024 18:02:37 GMT
Ofcourse!

They must listen to the problems of all the players, respond immediately and always listen to what their clients say, that way every poker room will grow, otherwise the players will be going elsewhere.

learn to cheat but ask exactly how much you need, so that you don't get caught with cards and lose a lot of stack. Poker is beautiful if you learn it and know how to steal chips from other players.

I really like that poker rooms are always aware of their community, streaming and also giving away tickets for tournaments, that way more players are attracted, also showing that there are missions and promotions every month.
 dule-vu19/09/2024 05:18:24 GMT
They give because they will earn 5 times more!
 geseco1220/09/2024 22:43:17 GMT
That's right, the poker rooms are always going to win, what helps them is that there are more players playing in their room, because that's where they earn from hand commissions when playing, that's why they should always be giving the best promotion to your players all the time.
 dule-vu20/09/2024 22:48:46 GMT
For sure!

i think pacific games do grate buissnes on poker .The key is speed but you must also understand that app should run flawless to do that .They have turbo and super turbo mostly .With taht in mind they can fill profit from lack of flux by speed
 dule-vu20/09/2024 22:49:57 GMT
Maybe!
 geseco1221/09/2024 21:46:53 GMT
There are poker rooms that are not good, and I think the reason is that in the freerolls they do they give money but you have to play and release it by playing more than 80% of the profits you get, that should change.
 dule-vu21/09/2024 21:47:27 GMT
Play for real money and you wouldnt have problems...
 geseco1221/09/2024 23:04:05 GMT
I play with real money, what I am saying is for those who have just entered a poker room and do not have money to bet, they should see that, I think that this way they attract more players to their rooms.

One way to improve poker rooms is by offering more customizable tournament structures, allowing players to choose the pace and blind levels that suit their preferences. Additionally, enhancing the social aspect with better chat features or community events could foster a more engaging experience. Improved customer support and quicker resolution times would also make a big difference in overall player satisfaction.

For them best thing will be to pay tax and license in many countries that they left!
 geseco1228/09/2024 16:33:16 GMT
There are many things that must be improved so that poker can expand and grow each year, there are many poker rooms that are very committed to the community, but others that are just emerging are not doing so, I hope this can change.
 CALICUL28/09/2024 19:55:43 GMT
we always have something to learn from poker and from these online softwares that most of the time destroy us, but this is the situation and maybe better days will come, where we can earn more money from poker.
