Poker in your browser  0
Quite a few sites now offer you the option to play poker in the internet browser without downloading the software. I expect this would interest you if you want to play a sneaky game of poker at work but of course the quality isn't as good.

Anyway, I don't have much choice as most poker networks don't offer a mac based software download but some of them allow browser play on a mac. Party poker for instance offers instant play as a mac option. But when I try to run it, it won't connect to the network.

I don't understand why it won't connect as I have played instant play on this laptop before but recently it stopped working. I may have upgraded my version of safari and that may be responsible.

I also tried to use the browser play on unibet poker. I got a bankroll there from BRM a long time ago but didn't like it. They have recently offered me a new bonus and a birthday freeroll though so I thought I'd give it another chance. But that won't let me connect either. It says "error connecting to lobby server" so I'm guessing its the same problem.

I've looked at my preferences in the safari menu but I can't see why it won't work. Does anyone else have problems connecting to instant play?

If it had worked in the past, and after an update it is no longer working, then you should look at the update. Is SSL connection allowed in your browser?

just an idea...if you like to use browser based software why not install another version of your OS in a small partition?

I don't know what SSL connection is. There's no option I can find to allow it. I've searched through my settings on safari and can't find anything. Cookies, pop ups and plug ins are allowed. I don't understand why an updated version of safari wouldn't work. I've checked the browser requirements on the poker site and it should be fine.

On windows machines the ssl connection is the secure one. A mac browser should have something like that too.

I don't know what else to do. I downloaded the firefox browser to see if it would be any different but exactly the same thing happens. The page seems to load and everything looks fine but I can never reach the log in page because there is no connection with the network. Partypoker just comes up with "retrying the connection" and the usual status bar but it never works.

I play full tilt and bwin on downloaded applications and have no problems connecting to their networks. I only have a problem with playing poker in the browser.

Not browser related, but PKR recently released their full software on MAC. It is full screen only I believe, so not suitable for a sneaky work game.. But is now MAC compatible after a long time of requests..
