well actually, people do buy monopoly money, they sell it as refills so you can play the game. Makes more sense buying monopoly money than it does play chips for online poker lol

I can't believe there actually is a market for this stuff. I can't see why anyone would buy the stuff or spend yhe time to actually build up enought to sell it. Surely everybody knows about these no deposit bankrolls we have nowadays don't they?

Kids do it to show off to their mates; adults do, when they don't want real money at the table, but like the high stakes play money-game. I know a few of these ppl and understand theit arguments.( and happily take their money )

well some sites offer freerolls where you buy in with play money and win real money. So if you have lost your no deposit bonus on a site that you love, play money can be another way of making money for free. This doesn't explain why people would spend real money to buy it though, especially when you can get it for free.
However, you can only get a small amount of play money for free and you need a lot of it to be worth anything. It can take ages to build it up to something that has value and it's easier if you have more to start with, so ppl buy for this reason.
Fundamentally though, play money is worth something because people will buy it. And if people will buy it, that means you can earn money by selling it. So if you can win play money easier than you can win real money, you might buy it, in order to play with it, in order to win it, in order to sell it. It's a cycle that feeds itself.
I mean think about it. Why do you work for pieces of paper with words written on it? It's because you know you can give it to someone else in exchange for goods, who can pass it on to someone else. It's only worth something because the banks say it is.
I think this is how playmoney works but maybe I'm wrong. Just my theory.
Are there freerolls for big amounts of playchipes earned ? As on Full Tilt happens, just to be clear. Otherwise I don't see any reason to buy playchips
