I played last night and got knocked out of two games in a row with the same hand! knocked out by the same hand! Both $10 SnG (9seat) First Hand... I had KQ otb I min raised and got called by BB. I knew that the BB liked to play small-middle pairs so put then on 44-99 Flop come 8Q5 so i bet and got called. (they had raised trips a few hands earlyer) so i didnt think they had much. Turn come 6 so i bet and got raised i thought that they might have a straight draw and was semi bluffing so i went over the top...All in They called and the River come 2
8Q562 When the cards come over they had AQ so I got out kicked........
I know I have over played my hand and miss read the other player
Out of that SnG and in to another..... Same m.o. $10 SnG (9seat)
After about 6/7 hands I get KQ again, and here comes the reason for this post............. I thought to myself AGH This hand just took me out of the last game should i play it or just fold? My instinct was to play it (in late position no raises or calls infront) My gut said (just fold it you lost with this hand just 5min ago) My logic said (its a random thig, you cant not play hands that havent worked out in the past) So I let my logic rule my gut instinct and played it but this time i just called. Again the BB played with me just checking. Flop come QK6... Oh yes I thought and checked... BB bet and I raised and they called. Turn come A they checked again. I bet 400 into a pot of 600 and get re-raised All in!?!?!?!? At this point i was thinking OH NO NOT ANOTHER KQ LOSS....... I thought long and hard thinking about what they had done...checking to me each time then re-raising. I called and they turned over AQ (again) Aghhhhhhhhh
If you have a run of cards that get busted each time do you still play them?

I try to play using my head, but then sometimes that seems to be my weakest link (lol). Sometimes I'll play with a gut feeling because you just have a good feeling about certain cards and how the op is playing. So I could say I play with both at times

The question of the poll is very easy. In a poker game the head should always rule! But unfortunately there are times that we play with the heart or with gut... Usually those are the times we lose! Specially when we tilt hard after a stupid river!

I'm confused since you say you were in late position but seem to act first after the flop

I think you played both hands badly tbh. Especially the first hand as you don't seem to be weary that he could have a better hand than you. Just because they played a hand one way earlier doesn't mean they will play it the same way again.

I wouldn't say that it was your gut telling you to fold. When we talk about gut we usually mean instinct. A feeling that usually has some back up but you can't explain it. Your gut was what told you he was bluffing in the first hand, although wrongly.
Sometimes we should rely on gut instinct more but our head rules it out. I guess it depends on whether you've got good instincts.
I would say that it was your heart that said fold this hand second time. This to me conjures ideas about emotions controlling our head. You were still feeling sore about the painful beat but it would have been wrong to fold just for this reason. Decisions made with the heart are usually completely irrational. At least that's my take on it.

usually KQ is a hand i really dont like to play, because most of the time your opponent postflop will call you with AQ or AK and you get kicked. The only very good spot for KQ is a trap on a flop like AJ10 and you can catch any Ax

Today i lost with QK and i had AQ funny. Anyway i always try to use brain , but sometimes gut wins and at 70-75% i loose when i listen to gut . Anyway you played bad next time you will play better just remember that hands.
Yes, if are good cards. I didn't understand well ( you said you were in late position then you acted first ), but playing cards preflop, witha raise too, make your fold difficult. As for me you had to fold second hand

Hmmm lots to take in here.... I'll have a little think about that as i'm told i'm a quite emotionless person and no one can read anything off my face, but i am also quite an emotional person on a different level.........or is that just what i think? I'll have a long hard think as if this is true i'll defo need to work on it to improve my poker game.
