Skill vs luck in poker  0
I'm kind of new to poker and most poker players shrug and laugh at casino freaks, sure there is no skill whatsoever playing slots, but still .. how much skill is there actually in Poker? (For my part, Texas Hold Em, haven't learned Razz, Omaha etc) I mean, there's situations where you have to think. For an example to not go all in with AA at hand and AA on the flop, It's just to obvious.

As I'm a rookie I tend to roll at the freerolls mostly, at the start of each and every tournament, half of the table goes all-in with all kinds of s**t (And often win), at pretty much every table existing. Maybe this is absolutely not the case in real buyins but, how much skill is there actually to it? 50% skill, 50% luck? Smile

100% skill in the long run. Thats why you recognize faces when you watch final-tables.

Luck influences in short term only.

Luck is only helps 4-5 times in long 4-6 hours game so its mean that luck only 3-5 % but not much all 95-97 5 giving to strategy hard brain work and some bluff because this is a big part of wining poker game luck is only 4 donkey needed but they always finishing in the tale Smile

Isildur1 is a fine eaxample of luck vs skill in poker ... he beat players that is considered to be the best in the world a couple of times but in the end he got spanked,

he learnt that lesson the expensive way and not thru free bankrolls Big Smile

I would say 80%-20%.(actually could be a poll about this),cause when you fet like AK,QQ,KK,and goes all-in,you never know what guy could show, like you have a king and guy shows an flus on the river or straight, but then ot of 10 times this thing happens like twice..........

I would say gettin' pocket A 5 times in a row is luck, not skill, therfore LUCK!

80% skill 20% luck a good player are constanly win.
But u need both
And a good casino player had skill too u must know when it´s time to end with playing equal if u lost or win.
I like playing roulette more then slots had win much money but lost a much too.
But i´ve learned in the years to stop my game when i reach my limit
So i go in a casino with 50€ and when i lost i go before i play i say to me when i reach 150€ i go
thats is the skill to control your game in casino and poker

Luck or Skill....
Not a bad question.....
Most people have been on the side of skill and rightly so but the range is from 99 / 1 too 80 / 20 so many differing opinions, from differing players i would pressume.
Those that win and play well will tell you its more skill and those that get beaten by some dumb rookie will tell you its 80 skill and the rest of the time its bad beats..lol
It (poker) should be a game of skill but skill can not defend or protect you from idiots and morons going all in with 72.
I belive you make your own luck. for example if you are drawing to a hand and know you have 12-16 outs or ways to improve your hand you will be at an advantage to some one who does not know this. But will you be luckyer? Yes you will because you will know when its worth chasing this hand and when its not worth chasing, there for you will be more proffitable thus winning more.
I think i've explaned it OK. Blink

Skill is king. Yes there is luck when u catch a 1 outer on the river to take down a pot, but most of the time skill determines the winner. Some benificial skills are: PATIENCE, fractional math and an observant eye (to notice tells and whether they are real or fake).

poker is a game based on skill but without some luck poker would not be poker !

I think it can be 75% / 25% for skills... or even 65 % / 35%....
I lost so many times to flush / straight people got on river i can't think it's only game of skills.

Well, in the uber long run its like 100% skills and 0% luck.
Losing players can be lucky and make profit after 100 games, in the long run they just losing players and their graph will be only down.
Winning players can have a bad streak and losing for 100 games, in the long run they win and be only up.

Agree. As for putting a percantage on as to what part is skill and the other is luck. I would have to say skill would be a much higher percentage than luck.
