Anyone else noticed that the last 1 or 2 years there is an increase of 1000% of russian players in poker rooms. No offence but i really try to avoid them because 80% of them play poker like maniaks. I'm really carefull before sitting at a cash table to avoid them but you can't do it at the tournaments. I have the feeling i got cracked every F*****G time against marginal hands like Q9 J10.... Anyone else has bad experience with them?
P.S when i was writting this someone calls of my allin raise TT with A6 suited and hits his flush. Watched his profile and guess where he's from lol
Poker is enjoying a massive worldwide boom, and its attracted millions of people who've seen a couple of episodes of Poker after dark and think they can play the game.
Certainly at lower limits, sites like Pokerstars and Full Tilt are a joke. The standard is awful, and I've got to say this, many of the worst are German, American and Canadian..
They all have their own traits..
Germans will never fold and will raise with anything..
Canadians just go all in with any garbage and pray
Americans - hyper aggressive, massive overbetters, and overvalue their hands.

That's not a problem of origin, but a problem of donks.

i have to agree that there are really a lot more russian players online than some years ago but i don't care about the origin , donks , fishes , sharks ,thight , bad and good players do you find in every country .

mazas, thank you for kind words. It is good to see that despite occasional outbreaks of nasty politics between our countries, reasonable people still respect each other. And believe me, it is mutual
Regarding the topic. We have a boom of online poker. It started 3 - 4 years ago when the TV broadcasts of WSOP were shown. About a year ago (may be a bit more) a major TV channel together with Poker Stars started a poker show. Via sattelites at PS one could gain a seat at this show. And you won't believe how many Russians want to show their faces on TV. The show still goes on. And this is in the country where poker (and other gambling) was prohibited last summer.
Thousands of Russians registered at Poker Stars. Some moved to other rooms. That's why we are so many. And when we are in a bunch we get nasty, obnoxious and rude (I don't know why). This is why reasonable Russian people try to avoid their countrymen at poker tables. Also when we go for a vacation abroad we choose a resort with no Russians But there is a lot of nice people as well. Three best Russian poker players Demidov, Kravchenko and Lunkin are all nice personalities.
ultraess, I am nice too and I play reasonable poker. Come play with me at Poker Stars
PS And, ultraess, forgot to mention. We lost to you at football, let us win at poker from Slovenians...

lol, sounds like a whole lot of good "Russian Vodka" and poker going on in your country. I know I recently did a thread about people shoving pf with 30 - 45bb, I'll have to pay more attention to what country these people are from

its just that 20% or something of world population is russian federation, so it only looks that they play badly. the more players, the more donks. i think in my homeland Estonia we have also lots of bad players, but have you ever heard about Estonian maniac donks? no, coz there is only 1,5 million of us
And Schmoyster-when you are right, you are right. I only wish there were more Russians like you.

Perhaps if you were only concentrating on your game rather than writing on bankrollmob you would bust them alot more ...

i think bad players are everywhere and you can't just single them out on the basis of country/race. although the theory that they drink and play does make sense, lol
from my experience of online gaming (incl. poker) most of those jerks and maniacs are polaks and germans... PS. if u play drunk - u lose, so pray for drunk russians at the table

Hi!!
Are you ready for the players from China? When they begin to play online poker in a serious way, in every table we will see 4 or 5 of them. Just like USA and Canadian players at night in FTP.
