Actually, if you calculate the odds from Step1 to Step7, they're something like this:

2/9 [to step2] * 2/9 [to step3] * 2/9 [to step4] * 2/9 [to step5] * 2/9 [to step6] * 2/9 [to step7] * 1/9 [to WIN step7] = 1 in 74,734 (for the 1st place WSOP package)

Of course the chance they give you to replay some steps with no extra money raises you overall odds, but basically it's like a big tourney with many competitors and a very low buy-in, broken into parts... Blink GL to all!!

Nice odds..
I think the right way to play the Steps isn´t do it thinking in the WSOP. Use the Step 4 or 5 in SnG or tournaments is the most profitable way. For ex. win a step 4 is really easy playing the step2 for 18 players (the old Tier One). Well, with the step4 we can play a 25+1 SuperTurbo Matrix SnG where we can win some $$ without problem.

Bye!!

the same exists at Pokerstars, but i just couldnt make it up to now.

But even if you dont manage to win a seat you got great points when you always became Third at level 4 for example cause you can always play it again. You get your Stellars and Silver much faster than.

u did not mention you're chances of getting honest cards from a pack of 52,to have benefic collisions (no value in an AA etc. if everyone folds, this is still keeping of ur luck ) and your odds calculation is also incorrect mathematically speaking:the correct scientific odds are 1 to 941.192 to hit from zero the first prize
Confused
