A large security hole was found on the Cake Poker network the other day. The security hole means that information with bad encryption (not SSL like many other sites) is being sent between Cake Poker's servers and players, which makes it easy for a hacker to crack the code and see hole cards, login details and other information. Lee Jones, cardroom manager at Cake Poker, explained in a forum threa[...]   Read more »

If someone is playing for a large amount of money over an unencrypted wireless network he has only himself to blame if something fishy is happening. It is an invitation for disaster.

so that why i always get beat on that site.......or maybe am just rubbish Smile

it's only possible for a hacker to crack the code if he's in range of a poker players unencrypted wireless network.

to do that must be hard work..... you must either know them, to hack em, too much of a blag hackers wont bother with this...........

I wouldn't put it past 'em If you have they have the skillset to get some free money and not get caught, why not? I agree though it seem's pointless to hack a single acct. Not like the breach UB/AP had a while back.

I am not kidding on 1 site I got on tilt after I got dissconnected in a big pot and lost my BR after that only site ever where I went broke.
2nd site(cake) of more than 10 where I am a winning player so far. I can't win there (Didn't lose that much) there but I have giving up playing there because some competition seemed a bit stronger than I was and am used 2. This explains a lot Smile

------------
Just kidding

I remember reading about this ages ago.. maybe on here? Must have been for a different room? I just remember someone saying those exact things, but it may not have been about cake.

I agree with shokaku on this one.

If you're playing for serious money but aren't even smart enough to encrypt your wireless network, you're an idiot.

lol. I don't think it is a big problem to protect your own connection from sniffing. I love Cake anyway.

Do you feel safe when playing poker online? Maybe you have been exposed for cheating? We wanna hear your stories! Of course we also welcome everyone else to post comments and thoughts on this.

I see a lot of cheating shit on youtube, propably also scams to get money from you.

Well, "large security hole" and "not SSL" seems like a gross understatement to me

Hackers love internet cafe's. Unsecured lines takes the effort out of their end.

Use an encryption on your wireless connection. Blink

WPA2 is the standard at the moment. Older standards (WEP) are to easy to crack.

Indeed! Thankfully, I got to play there via a No-Deposit bonus from another affiliate (inferior to the infamous BankrollMob). Anyways, it was easily my worst experience with online poker. Boring, non-custom avatars (unlike the fun, varied selection of non-custom avatars on Full Tilt), piss-poor user interface, and that's just the beginning. The cash games are much tighter than I was prepared for, and that eventually led to me losing the entirety of my bankroll (over a month and a half), but hey, playing with real money for free is always a win-win scenario! Thumbs Up Big Smile Thumbs Up I'm always playing over an unsecured, though wired network, so I dunno if I ever had my shit hacked, LOL, but I could care less at this point . . . Tongue
