Been thinking about this for some weeks now, but seeing as to there are so many new "active" members (and very happy for that), I think it´s about time for a forum "upgrade"
By that, I mean making categories in the main page. I wouldn´t exagerate, like in most forums. BRM is a bit "special", and needs to stay that way. Really!
But it´s becoming kind of difficlut to find the posts you are interested in (at least it is for me), and I see I´m just sticking to the first page now, and that´s kind of a shame, because I am missing and losing track many great and interesting threads.
We have to keep it limited (the categories), or we´ll lose the "friendly and fun" character of the forum. And that would be a great loss.
I´ll make some suggestions as to how I see the forum growing/adapting in the next couple of days. (too late in the night now ).

That is a great jack, but what did you have in mind concerning upgrading this forum. Did you mean by limiting or expanding the threads in categories or something else?

A little organization never hurt anyone that's for sure. And I definitely agree it's getting harder to follow threads (I always check my username to follow up on threads cause it's a pain to cycle through the pages looking).

i always have just looked on the front page or as said i have a look in my name to see where i have been but i know what you mean the front gets clogged up with alot of stupid threads these days

Jack, Did you read my mind? I literally had this thought the other day. There are so many awesome threads, and so many members with good advice I always want to see the new post's and it is getting really hard to keep track! I'm sticking irregardless, when I do have an extra minute or two, I do try to meander through the seperat forum categories, but I must admit I rarely go farther back than a page or two. I think an upgrade could be cool, though I'm not sure how it would be accomplished. You definately don't want to make it so different that you alienate some of the members you're trying to connect with, ya dig?

I think that's a good idea Island! Can't quite recall all the catagories at this point, but maybe various sports, entertainment and an area for the beginner questions. The reason I think the beginner question catagory would be nice an experience player who doesn't mind assisting could review this catagory. Some of the replies for basic questions from the inexperienced aren't always kind. Good Idea though. God Luck on implementation and Good Luck to All!

Woah! Didn´t realise this page existed. And this after all this time.
Well, I just had a go, and it still seems kind of out-dated to me right now. (please take my comments as only that, just my thoughts on this issue)
When you pick a category and make a new thread, you still have to choose under what heading it will be posted, and that´s the thing that I think is not being used very well in this format.
I´d be all for a Forum Front Page with major categories.
General - forum news (ie, "sticky threads" - introduce yourself (we spend a lot of time doing this all over the place anyway...
Mob - Games - Promotions (some linked to stickies?) -etc.
Poker - Poker strategy - Hand Discussions - Software and books - Freeroll thread!!!!
Kind of like that. So when you are in a category like Hand Discussions, it actually goes there and stays there.
Would involve a little programming, but nothing huge. would the programming people be up for it?
It´s just that the forum has gotten really busy the last few months, and with all the "catchy" titles, category choices, (or mis-choices..), etc etc, you really have to open avery thread to see what it´s about, and a lot of stuff just gets left behind.
How about it? Any chance of this happening sometime in the near future? I´d be willing to set up a "model" for the whole thing, which you could adapt to specific BRM needs.

On the forum frontpage (with all threads), click on the timestamp for when the thread was created to view a preview - or the timestamp on the last post, to view a preview for that. Then you don't have to enter the thread unless you want to read more or reply.

I still like the old look (mainly the old banner) good old gothic...with the evil man smoking his cigar on a gangsters red leater chair...all good thing come back in to fasion...lets go back to black , the good old days with top 5 posters and a bankrollmob shop! who here remembers the poker table for mob points? whos nicked my zimmer frame!!

Oh. Alright then, I´ll put something together next week. Not had time to post this week, and I´m moving this weekend, so I won´t get the chance until next week sometime.

the overview at BRM is pretty ok for me , of course things can always be better but the biggest problem at this moment is that a lot of new members has made threads about the same thing over and over again ( freeroll ) and it's starting to become very irritating as we don't see or overview other more interesting threads . most of the times now i just open BRM , take a look and close BRM again as i don't want to read the same stuff again and again . i really believe we need dunotra back and even flangel

I know I do not post only on freerolls, and I haven't even read alot of threads about freerolls lately. For the new member, that is where they will start, and I enjoy the competition of trying to make the leaderboards, and do even when i'm playing higher stakes. I do not know these other members, and am sure they are missed. I guess I am just saying that I am a poker player and enjoy discussing ALL aspects of the game, including freerolls, which are some of the most difficult tournies to win, just because of the sheer volume and different types of players you face. You should be reading soome of the threads I've read lately jokes,vids,the mob safe is a whore, getting staked, hand reading, anything poker I think of I make a thread about, in order to get as much input as possible and improve the leaks in my game! yep i know the feeling and a great idea from you Jack a freeroll section as these are becoming hard work bad beats in freerolls, im not bothered much about anything else but freeroll section would be nice
