the use of a bluff  0
hello mobsters, this is my first post ever in this forum! ive been reading for awhile but haven't posted until now. im playing some free sit & go's on full tilt, just working on stategy basically. i've been playing for years but haven't really gotten too competitive with it until recently.
but i just wanted to share what just happened in my game.

in one hand, i just tried to bluff with 7 2 offsuit, nothing came up for me, and the other guy took a pot of 2500, leaving me with 3200 and him somewhere around 5500. about 3 or 4 hands later, i was dealt KJ o/s, just me and the same guy in. i flop a pair, trip on the turn, and get my boat on the river, and this guy calls me all the way with a pair of aces. this pot was twice what the last one was, at 5000! so my initial bluff paid off with a net payout of 2500.

thats it for now, best of luck to you all! Cool

don't think it's a good idea to make a icecold bluff with 2 7 OS ... you are going to find that out in the hard way i think ...
as about pay back , you was just lucky to hit and believe me or not but you will lose more hands than win with K J OS espacially when you will keep on going all in preflop with that kind of hands .

My poker strategy is like TonyG he said " never play KJ" and I am doing this (if there is not a heads up, or I am not dealer lol) .. I do not like playing KJ even u get a pair is not good ..

Be careful with bluffing. A lot of people see WPT and WSOP on television and think that bluffing is a regular part of the game, and then start playing and find out that seasoned players will pick up on the bluffs and call or reraise you. Bluffing is just another tool all poker players should have in their tool chest, but timing, table image, style of play of the others at the table and previous actions in that hand should all factor into whether or not a bluff will be successful. Sometimes being caught in a small bluff and losing a small amount of money is not a bad thing, as it sets up your image among others at the table as a loose bluffer, and they will call your bets and raises when you hit a powerful hand. One last thing, never bluff a calling station!

I agree.

There's a bluff,semi-bluff and a position play. Always be ready to fold your hand - especiali in SnG or MTT turnays when you are basicly out of play...

But sometimes is good to use your positon to force your opponent to fold or semi-bluff if you know opponent vary well.

thanks everybody for the feedback. I am usually a pretty tight player, so i wanted to mix it up and throw a bluff in there to keep people on their toes. but i agree, 72 os and even KJ i usually dont want to play.

Read all replies to FunnyMan's thread since this is something I'm not comfortable with or really even do. Like them all and yours makes a lot of sense mahdrof. I know the bluff should be part of one's game, but I may have bluffed about 3 to 4 times in the 5/6 months I've played poker. I just don't feel comfortable if i don't have something worth calling and, probably not supposed to when one bluff's. Glad Funny did post such a thread because the feedback was great to a beginner like me. Something different and enjoyed. Good Luck to All!

Don't be in a hurry to bluff. It took me a while to learn when a bluff was likely to take the hand, so for now just focus on playing solid tight-aggressive TAG poker like most beginners should be playing. I have to admit though, when I pull off a decent bluff I always get a good chuckle!
