I finally finished on Everest last week and got my copy of Holdem Manager for free. So glad not to have to play those 2 hour Sng´s anymore!!! How do these people keep it up?
Anyway, I´m now playing the games I´ve always wanted to play, the Deepstacks on Full Tilt, $11 to $26 buy-ins. Nice!
Played 6 so far, and cashed in 4 of them. Today I played another one, $11 buy-in...and came in 4th! Yessss! $700...
Sure they take a long time, this one was 9 hours, but it´s REAL Poker...dangerous and fun. Not too many idiots, they get dumped pretty quickly by the "trappers". I love the game again! Was playing too many donk games to make it here, and that´s all over for me. Real tourneys from now on!
What was really cool was that I had a bunch of supporters on the rail as well. Other belgians staying on till the end to cheer me on. Wow that was strange. People I didn´t know but very nice. Felt like I was playing the WSOP or something. lol

I'm glad for you Islandjack, if i knew your full tilt poker account username i would check out your table too while you play. Many say Pokerstars is the best poker platform for sngs or tournaments. First i also played sngs and also i liked a lot more to play on Full Tilt Poker than on Pokerstars. In fact i consider than on all type of games the players you find on full tilt poker have a lot more experience than players found on any other poker platforms. How many players were registered in this sng? It was a knock out sng*(i mean you get a bonus for each player you eliminate)? Good luck at the ftp tables and keep us posted!

Grats to you, very good job. Nice to hear that you found your "poker Home". For me I still not know what I like most or what is the best for me to play. But for sure I don´t have the time to play a 9hour tournament

These are actually tournaments, not SnG´s. Either double stack (3000 chips) or deepstack (5000 chips). The blind levels are usually staggered as well, going from 10, to 12 to 15 minute blind levels as the blinds increase. It approaches more live Tournament play in that way, and that´s why they take so long.
The field in this one was about 900 runners, but depending on the payout, it can be a lot more.
I actually played a Knockout $24+2 one as well in the week, and that was fun. $4 per knockout. I vary my play between "small ball" and TAG, so I don´t get that many knockouts however, unless I hit the last few tables, like yesterday.
The $10+1 are buy-ins, but for the $24+2 I play the steps. (step3 ticket) They start at $1.10 SnG´s (step 0), and if you play them well, you can get your step 3 ticket for an average of $2-3 initially invested. Just make sure you don´t lose a lot of tickets, playing tight until you are in a position to at least get the same ticket, and then attack! Nothing worse than losing a step 2 game and having to start over from step 0.
Have fun with it, if you can find the time.

You are definitely approaching Mob "Icon" status Arsene. You´ll make the 1.000 mark before the summer at this rate.
And thanks for giving me your 700th post! I will cherish it!

Well, it´s actually a Damn Long Time to sit at those tables! I agree! Never had much courage to start them up, considering they can last from 8 to 10 hours easy. But then I realised i was often playing a bunch of different stuff, like SnG´s, turbo or speed tournaments, whatever, and often playing 6-8 hours that way anyway.
After 6 hours it gets tough, but I think in steps. Make the bubble, then make the final table, then make 1st... That keeps me going in the end. But I admit it´s not that easy. When the last 20 players play for another 2 hours + because of the slow blinds...you have to grit your teeth and decide what you want. I really wanted that final table and had to keep repeating that to myself to keep playing smart.
Funny thing is, coming in 4th I was disappointed for not being 1st. I hope that is a good sign. I went totally card dead in the last 1/2 hour, but still... I feel I could have played some hands better, and that might have made the difference, who knows? But that´s how we learn and improve, I guess.

Good for you Jack! Playing at the levels you want to be at, AND being successful is very rewarding. It makes all of the effort you put into this game seem more worthwhile than when you are grinding it out over a few pennies. Big thumbs up!

congrats. I'm hoping for the same thing. Playing freerolls day in and day out gets a little annoying because of all the noobs. Hopefully a win will come my way so i can bump up to some better tourneys

Glad that you have completed your promotion at everest poker and said goodbye to that site so that you can enjoy the deepstack games. I wish I had that much time and concentration to play for 9 hrs consecutively , but one day hope to play them
