Staking  0
Im curious about staking. Its funny thing...
I will say my thoughts later about this but need to ask one question first:

Does someone wants to stake me?
For example 100$ profits 50% 50% to play 2$ SNG?

*sigh* like u havent noticed in any of the other threads, people want info, like lets see your graph, whats your username what platform and normally people want more then 50%.... it should be around 65-70 for the staker. 50/50 if u final table in MTTs

I don't know much about staking... To me it sounds silly, unless you know the player really well and you don't really care about your money Blink

EDIT: But yeah 50/50 sounds small unless you have a really constant graph, I agree with Jibberish.

The graph and nickname/site part is true, but usually you can easily find someone who will stake you 50/50 if you are trusted member/poker player, at least when it comes to staking on cash games.

Busto?

You don't have be busto to ask for staking Blink Usually someone is busto when he wants someone to stake him, but I've seen people that play for example NL50, but have played like NL200/400 before (for example on FTP, where they have like 90% of their roll and can't cashout) so they ask for stake on higher stakes Blink

Hey dozn, if you have time someday, make a post on basics of omaha hi/lo!! Like a lot of people I don't know much about it but I would like to.

My main question is: Why sometimes no hand is qualified for the low? You must have 8 high or less for that?

Busto?

LOL
No, Im not busto for sure Cool
Just I was interested to see would anyone here stake me if I wanted that Big Smile

Here is what I think.
From my perspective, I would never take offer to someone stake me. Reason is simple: I am winning player so, if Im already winning in long term. why would I split my profits with somebody else??? Why?
And if Im losing player why would someone stake me??? He wants me to lose his money like i lose mine???

I JUST DONT GET IT...

For sure you need to trust a lot the person you are going to give your money to,
for something like that.
Or they might come up with, oh sorry i lost it all, and they may get a profit out of it. Smile
Nothing i would do personally in either way Smile

to try higher limits ?
or in conditions where you lose your roll due to non poker reasons like hacking/ stuck at some site like fulltilt

OK, that could be a reason, but, if you ask for 100$ what that means? That you cant collect 100$ to make deposit??? Even on Balkans that is not big money!

i agree with you on this but not everyone has the same thinking.
only those players can answer this who get staked for those amounts. dont think it has got much to do with its big money or not but more with whether you want to risk your money or others.

Since I've been playing staked only for the last ~ 1 1/2 months and am currently looking for a new one I can probably answer this pretty well..

There are pretty much 2 types of staking - shortterm staking and longterm staking.
While Shortterm staking is staking for a single or a small series of games, longterm staking is a longterm deal running over an amount of time that is set beforehand and that covers all action. Longterm deals usually also include coaching.
Some huge winning pros have fun being the mentor of someone, seeing them becoming great players, and coach them in return of profits if you want to call it that.

Shortterm is usually not that profitable for either side, since the number of games compared to ROI isnt a great return.

Longterm however is profitable for both side.
Staker:
- He makes a good amount of cash over the course of the stake by improving his "horse" (thats what the staked players are called)
- He probably enjoys improving players
- He has no work other than coaching

Player:
- He can play stressless
- He makes money without having any risk
- He improves his game
- He can take shots at games he would usually not play

My reasons for example is my current situation:
I currently have a BR of about $2K and will have to give my parents ~$300 per month starting october (since school ended and I wont get a job until summer next year,so I will have to get back to that money).
For the current limits I play (I usually play any MTTs between $1.10 - $22 on stars in the evening, mixed with SNGs up to $8 ) this can be really stressful mentally. Losing $200 in one session can happen pretty easily since I'm grinding several tables (I usually play like 40-50 MTTs/MTSNGs per evening now)
By being staked,I can easily grind 20-30 5€ SNGs on a site where I receive rakeback which takes me like 1 1/2 - 2 hours of "work" in the morning, totally stressless, then doing some rl stuff at noon/afternoon,and play my usual games in the evening without risking to lose a single penny of my own money while being able to win a share of it.
This combined with consistantly improving my game is definitely worth it giving up half of my profits.

PS,I'd stake you if you were to go broke Tongue

im almost broke, but i think im gonna deposit my own real life money for once, rather then play with just money i make off freerolls/etc, had a run to about 40$, down to 5$ now, went on a major cooler/tilt
