12 teams allocated. 8 teams left. two days before it begins.

I have no idea what to do if there are teams left on friday morning. How to make this fair for everyone? Come on people, there are still teams left with a good chance of winning. You've got nothing to lose by opting in.

For those of you who don't know the 2011 world cup will be held in New Zealand, which makes it quite difficult for UK viewers to watch live, but I plan to watch a fair few games even if I have to stay up all night, crash for a few hours and get up for work. I feel about rugby the way most people feel about football - which is handy cos I'm welsh and we clearly don't do football. Losing to England by one goal is a triumph when you are 117 in the world.

Back to the rugby. Annoyingly I think England may be a good shout for this world cup. Despite being awful in the warm ups they are justifiable favourites in their group. They will no doubt face France in the quarter finals, who have not been playing well either and could be out-kicked by England. With the momentum and misplaced belief England could just get to a boring, England-style final.

New Zealand are still the favourites though, even after Australia beat them in the tri-nations. Who knows if they can actually make good on the favourites tag this time round? I'm of course hoping that Wales can pull it out the bag but I'm not even 60% confident we'll get past the group stages. Even though I think we have a better side than South Africa.

Yeah but there were only 10 people who had opted in at that point. Cos parrix and fakiry posted in this thread without opting in people got confused and started counting higher. I can't include them if they haven't asked. It wouldn't be fair. Sorry for the confusion.

To clarify: as the 11th person to write "i'm in" or "team 4 - b1gfoot" etc or something similar you have team 11 on my list.

ok rbdflyboy #12 does that work? I'm leaving town until Monday for work so you can assign me any team and 12 works if I read this right.
BTW I played rugby for a college team back in the day. Had to turn on the jets afew times..having 200+ pounders chasing me down the field was a good motivator.

i think your right about england awood they have a good chance of making the final, there more than capable of beating france,as for my country ireland doesn't look good for them as they've been beaten by everyone in the pre tournament friendlies but you never know on the day Tongue miracles can happen lol

I saw Ireland play against France and England in the warm-ups and imo they don't stand a chance. Neither of those teams played anywhere near the level of Australia or New Zealand and yet they beat Ireland comfortably. And yet bwin betting gives Ireland better odds than Wales who out scored England between their two games. Probably has something to do with the fact you have no competition in the group stages. I think we're both hoping for miracles.

Callie28 has team 15 so you have team 16.

I don't know if you're asking me to explain rugby to you or the sweepstakes. Basically the rugby world cup is going on right now and will finish on the 23 October. I am giving each participant in the sweepstakes one team in the world cup. If your team wins the cup I will give you some mob points.

time to post the teams. I had always planned to distribute the teams in alphabetical order so no one could accuse me of fixing the order. Maybe it was a little obvious but i'm sticking to it.

For those who don't know, all the teams are divided into four groups. The top two from each group progress to the quarterfinals. More information about fixtures can be found on the rugby world cup website.

Awood88 Argentina group B
SuperNoob Australia group C
Jbrooksie Canada group A
B1gfoot England group B
Arsenj1 Fiji group D
Magatt966 France group A
Flippedchips Georgia group B
Starbay Ireland group C
Lukasb Italy group C
Retiredchamp Japan group A
Funope Namibia group D
Rbdflyboy New Zealand group A
Jovicakralj Romania group B
Schwabo Russia group C
Callie28 Samoa group D
Moesie-what Scotland group B
Welshgit South Africa group D
??? Tonga group A
Wildcard USA group C
NA Wales group D

The next person to post can have Tonga who lost in the world cup opener yesterday. If USA win I'll give the points to everyone and eat my hat.

I will pay out 500 points to the winner (the person with the highest finishing team). And I will double that to 1000 mob points if Wales reach the final. Good luck everyone.

For anyone interested the following games take place today. If you have UK tv they are shown on ITV1.

Scotland v Romania
Fiji v Namibia
Japan v France
England v Argentina

You've got to hope Wales top the group and meet South Africa again in the final. And I will happily hand you one thousand of my mob points. I think we can beat em on Sunday.

Are you watching Romania taking the piss with scotland? lol Both sides throwing away tries and Scotland are only 7 points ahead. Looks good for Argentina.
