Online Poker Earnings.  0
It has been said that a very small percentage, a very selected few will actually have positive earnings online, while the rest, the majority, will end up losing money to online poker.

To me, this seems true and very logical. I do believe that the very few people who actually make money from this online poker world, is somewhere around 3% or less compared to all players.

Many people claim to have won great money in online tournaments, but then they forget to mention that they lost it all in the next few months of playing, so in reality, they actually won nothing!

How do you feel about this, have you won more then you have invested or lost?

Please be kind enough to answer the poll and leave some feedback. Thumbs Up

It depends on how you look at it. To me, receiving a no deposit thingy and losing it overtime wouldn't count as a loss, as you haven't invested any of your money (unless you want to go into time=money, but lets not).

Nope, the time=money has nothing to do with it. I believe that if you play with a no deposit bonus and then lose it in the long run, you are simply even.

see that could be seen as a loss if you lost a no deposit bonus, im up and know it cause its sitting in my neteller account, but i dont actually know how much i have been given to get there as i have put no money in myself but have found numerous bankrolls to get me started

Have you ever cashed out from Neteller? I ask this because many people who tend to leave the money online, tend to lose it eventually in the long run without ever cashing out $1.

At the moment, I'm winning some. It's just small time compared to you guys, I've got my money on my moneybookers account and i tend to keep it there for a while. just playing small time poker so no big winnings or loses.

Well I see that I am the first person so far that has lost more money this year , than I have won. Im actually talking about 2007 year. Overall I lost around $1500 last year. I did have a couple of nice pay days in some tournaments, but as you said, I did end up losing it after awhile.

hmm... i'm play in poker for fun, but i get some money (around 200$), moreover i have friend; he is get something around 2000-3000$ at month. Just win money in online poker = spending your time for learning theory and strategy.

I only have ever deposited a few times and only on ultimatebet where i have had some success in the past. The most i have withdrew form there is $12,000 and the most i ever deposited at one time was $100. Obviously i have deposited around1 to 2k i would say but all in all im still into profit. There is a way of checking peoples stats and onine earnings but im not sure if im able to post the link so if admin says its ok then i will do. Smile

i started playin on party poker before i knew about free bankrolls. i started with fake money and stupidly thought that real money workd in the same way. i deposited the minimum four times and lost it all. then i won a tournament and broke even but over time i lost it all agen.
But since i found about bankrollmob iv opened accounts wiv two new sites and now iv actually doubled all the money ive vr put in. i think the practice on party poker really helped. i havnt withdrawn any money tho so technically im still down.

Great post thefodz!!
I've played 4-5 years now and my "poker career" goes like this(aprox numbers). 1st year small minus $ I think I deposited 4 times 50$ and lost them slowly. Then I played a year breaking even I got tired of not winning as much as I would like to so I started to take my game more serious(searching knowledge, discipline, self control and taking responsibility). I began to make a small profit and I think this years winnings covered first years expences Smile The last 1.5 year I've been a regular at NL50-200 and I use my winnings too pay my car insurance and my holidays Smile

I come from a family that is "political correct" they don't like smoke, gambling and naked girls if you know what I meen......in their eyes poker is gambling. Because of my upbringing I knew nothing about poker or gambling. Actually I allways hated gambling cause I think you gotta be more than stupid to put your money on worse than 50-50 unless the reward is gr8 Smile But I saw poker in TV and realised that it was not gambling and I thought it was something I could become good at. Sorry 4 the story but I wanted to give you a background for my slow start I was very "weaktight" in the beginning Tongue

Do not lie to yourself.
Breaking even is not breaking even, it is wasting your time. Time is money.
It is also a psychological effect, when one wins $100 from $10, and loses $80 of the $100.
9/10 will see that as a loss, and continue to gamble in an attempt to reach $100 again. 9/10 times the person will fail, and also lose the $10 they came in with.
Do not lie to yourself.

Hey Mark welcome to the forum Smile. I don't understand your post....im not lying....why should I ? Iagree with you that breaking even feels like a waste of time but not if you play for the entertainment...then it's just free entertainment which is rare in 2008. What's your answer to the topic?

id say ive lost more than won when it comes to online poker, but in live poker ive won more than lost its a much better game i think easier to read a layer and more fun and banter at the tables

Now that this topic is out in the open, start paying attention to this because close to the end of the year, I will ask the same question regarding earnings from 2008. Although many people already keep a close look at their bankroll earnings, for those of you who never cared about this, it is a good way to start a bankroll management follow up. Well, good luck to all.

I have only deposited twice, a total of around $95... I am now broke so I am overall in the red I believe. This is due to tilt and cash games though, because I think overall in SNGs I profit based on an online site which I will not name as links are possibly not allowed (??).

In live poker, I do not play often, but in the 6 home games I have played I have walked away a winner 5 times. Having said that, the players in these games sucked and so it was like taking candy from a baby Smile
