That sucks, part of the reason I don't like cash games. Can't really say bad call before flop cause he was getting 4 to 1 on his money, plus if he hit a nice flop he could win $1000. But that totally sucks you lost with a set of aces. I would've definitely raised more preflop cause when he calls $20 more, you have no idea what he has.

That's exactly what you ahould have done (in hindsight). I couldn't begin to tell you often I've seen slow playing aces get done over this way. That's a serioous kick on the hawmaws mate. Bad luck mate.

I woulda bet on the flop a set of aces isn't unbeatable, i mean im sure u dont wanna hear this but u shoulda also raised more preflop he was almost comitted to seeing a flop with that min raise, then u checked and gave him the free straight sick though

Raising to 50 is a bad move perflop. First, he will call the extra $20 cause hes getting 4 to 1 plus he has good implied odds. I would raise to at least $80 preflop, I think I would check the flop too. Sucks that happened but you invited him in with $20 raise.

If you play really 5/10 nl holdem this "badbeat" was a pokergods' lesson, cause you just played it bad preflop and flop, he wouldnt call a gutshot on the flop with a bet (allthough i know how attractive it is to slowplay a set of aces on a rainbowflop)your call was ok.
why do you say his call was ok, if only thinking that his outs to the full is good then it was still very marginal, what else apart from the str8 is reraising all in there

I hope this hand didn't cost you all your winnings from the 750k guarantee from fulltilt! It was an unlucky hand but you didnt bet on the flop which was a mistake in my opinion.

Posted by Acekaiser: i would have played them slow on the flop too and i think your raise preflop was also ok. i would not have played it any different thats just bad luck
then you would of played it wrong aswell, the reason you raise big preflop is to stop people with poor cards hitting 2 pair. no one wants to risk big bets on 5 9 suited before the flop has even hit its plain daft thats why u raise big preflop with the bullets to stop calls like that. its called protecting your hand and even if no one called its still the better play for it because of incidents like this

yeah maybe he should have raised 3times the raise so 90$ but imo i think the guy would have called anyhow
i know why you raise with AA,KK and so on and i know what protection is, but you don't want to bet so high that you can't make any money out of your startinghand because everyone else folds against your raises

your mistake was that you raised too little preflop and your opponent got the odds to call you with 9high and when he got the flop a straightdraw he didnt make any big misstakes so next time raise more on preflop
