Hi guys.
Do you think that "Match Poker", as introduced by the International Federation of Poker, is a good way to isolate the skill part of playing poker? Could it be a successful game that people would like to play?

Here is a link to an introduction of the game:

Why would someone want to change the live play into a computerized game.
No matter what the results on this i dont like the idea at all.
You want to play with your pc, you play online.
You are playing live cause the thrill is way different than staring to a monitor.

You still play live. The chips are real, the people are in front of you. Only the cards are replaced, because it is very hard to play same hands on different tables with real cards. At the first championship they tried it with real cards (12 identical decks * 50 hands) - It was very hard to handle and there were many mistakes. It is much easier with computerized cards.
The real intersting part is the duplicate poker idea, where you are playing against people with same cards on different tables.

well there are a few poker rooms that offer this "matched poker" concept, the idea itself on paper looks logical enough, but somehow it just doesn't play...maybe if such big operators like jokerstars/tilt/party would have this format on offer & promote it quite a bit, the game might take off, other than that there doesn't seem to be enough interest

Well, it does sounds logical, and it is probably the best way to compare skills of players, although it still depends on who you play against at the table and if someone is tilting at your table you could enjoy it, while at other tables opponents play better.
But I still can't think of a better way

Shalom...!

We used to play poker for matches when we were stuck way up in the bush of Northern Ontario. Money is worthless deep in the forest. What IS worth something deep in the forest is your hunting skills. All the money in the world can't buy you dinner when the closest restaurant or grocery store is 100 miles away,...BUT,...matches can start a fire on which to cook,...and keep you warm at night,...AND keep the bears and mosquitos away... Big Smile

He who controls the matches,...controls the people... Smile Thumbs Up Worship

I see you are getting your Mob Points the "funny" way. Well, making everybody smile once in a while is a better way than most others...
