Phil Ivey is set to appear on the popular television series '60 Minutes Sports' for an exclusive interview with CBS host James Brown on Tuesday, October 07. However, the real purpose of the interview is to delve slightly further into the baccarat cheating allegations that Ivey's currently caught up in, and to allow Ivey to defend his reputation publicly. "Yeah, because once you get cheater next to your name, especially in my business, which is the business of gambling, it's really bad", Ivey says in the short teaser released by CBS when asked if the lawsuits present the biggest challenge he's faced in his career.

This should be a very interesting programme to watch and i am looking forward to it. It is always nice to hear Phil Ivey talking because he leads the life that most people in the world would love to lead, gambling and travelling the world

Cheers it is a must watch you might learn something new or get a bright new idea and you might be the next person to get an angle on those games or better you can be like me and learn nothing or gain only motivation to look for the angles and so on. Anyway like Ivey as a player because he is so hard to read than most players and can read any players easily and do some cold fold and hero fold. Cheers guys good luck and have fun at the tables ! Me gonna watch the second half of Liverpool match!

It looks like an interesting interview.There is a short preview on youtube and to be honest it looks like it will be a very soft interview rather than investigative journalism. Lately there seems to be quite a lot of bad publicity surrounding Ivey so it looks like he has to try and counter all the bad press by inviting the TV crew to his house and defend himself.He does appear quite upbeat in the program which is good as usually on the TV while playing he does come across as very quiet and not very friendly.

With the Phil Ivey London court case over (The Judge considered Ivey to be honest and not a cheat, but ruled against him because what he did 'defeated the essential premise of the game' and therefore there was no 'gaming contract') the poker community is up in arms at the Crockfords decision, but would we be so supportive if Phil Ivey edge-sorted at the poker table?
I just watched this 60 minutes episode with Phil Ivey. What a weirdly produced show by the way, it's very quiet, no background music, just the voice of the presenter. It takes a while getting used to it, but I like it.
As for the "edge sorting", I've learned that professional gamblers call it "advantage play" rather than cheating. It's where you exploit a flaw in the house, to gain an advantage (turning it into a +EV game for you). It's not illegal, but, not unlike card counting, casinos will ban you, if they find out.
I do think it's a bit silly for the casinos to fall for this; they obviously know this exists, and yet allowed Ivey to play with the conditions he asked for.

If they know from the start ,they have the courts on their side, it is not silly. It is just freerolling. If the casino wins, it keeps the players money, if the player wins, they refuse to play him. Easy $$$

Atlantic City based casino Borgata has reportedly added the recent Crockfords verdict to its own $9.6m case against poker pro Phil Ivey.Borgata is suing Ivey over his use of the same controversial technique at its baccarat tables in 2012, which - given that edge-sorting was deemed foul play in the British capital - does not bode too well for the publicly proclaimed best player in the world.
