I think all are aware that I LOVE BRM but HATE online poker. For many that have been around awhile now they know my past and know why. For those that do not.... read my past posts,( years ago when I stopped online poker).

Just for the hell of it I decided to play online for the past few days as having some allergy issues and therefore confined to my house this weekend

Now I remember clearly why I stopped online.

#1- you cannot see the dealer and what is being dealt and if it is fair or not?.( yes you have to be sharp in live, and I am).

#2- Who the hell are you playing with,( OH yes I am sorry all online is true don't ya know!!!!).

#3- Random? My f'ing ass it is.( in my years of playing live I have NEVER been dealt the same cards 3 hands in a row and then had my opponent dealt the same cards 3 hands in a row!! I call that B******t).

I have no clue as to why anyone would waste their time or $$$ online. If you do not have a casino/card-room close to you then find some like minded people to play with, sharpen yourself and when you can play for REAL LIVE larger money do it.

Online is IMO bull chit.

I know 99% on here play online and this is BRM's lifeline but makes me vomit with the amount of $$$ going through this bs.

If someone would, start a poll as to how much money people on here put in weekly/monthly whatever and see what it taken in and then start a poll on how much is won. I am fairly certain that has never been done here.

I was on warning before for saying my piece about online poker, and chose to shut my cake hole for the rules and "good of the forum" , but now I just cannot handle the bs.

So all of BRM I am sure you know I LOVE YA.

Take care and best to all Smile

Oh dear dlkiv, I never had you down as one of the rigged conspiracists. Ok you don't actually say it's rigged against you but you seem to be saying it's not random and therefore not fair. I don't know if the cards are completely random but I certainly don't believe anyone has an advantage and you definitely can make money online if you play smart.

Having said that, I agree with the sentiment somewhat. What I expected you to say was why would you waste your life in front of a computer screen playing boring poker cos poker is so much better live. You have to adjust your play online to take advantage of fish, avoid the swings, grind it out, keep cool every bad beat, multi table like f**k and play common sense plus TAG. It can be quite boring and soul destroying. I prefer to play with mates and people I hate, booze, atmosphere, banter and win or lose fun.

But that's just my opinion and I think plenty of people enjoy online poker. Many people spend hours on WOW, COD, Farmville, role-playing games, endless video streaming, Facebook stalking, cyber-hacking, forum posting and other on the face of it sad past times but each to their own. I honestly don't know how I spent so many hours playing poker when I was a student. Confused

Well dlkiv 1st of all i don't see anything there that you should get banned for,as you're not having a go at BRM just on-line poker in general. I mean we've all either said or thought the same as that at least once or twice ,haven't we ? In saying that though i' haven't heard anyone as experienced as you say what you just did,so maybe there is something to it.
Just one thing, i've NEVER had the same hand 3 times in a row whilst my opponent has had his same hand 3 times ( on-line that is ) as i don't play live, the odds to that happening must be astronomical.
Anyway cheer up it can only get better. Big Smile Thumbs Up

You have seen the advantages of online playing for yourself. You don't need to leave the house, you can play everytime you want to, even if you are sick. No one can even see you doing so.

It's fine to prefer one over the other, but I don't quite get some of your criticisms... Like not being able to see the dealer for example. You don't explicitly state that is a bad thing, but you imply that it is... Now my thoughts are in a casino, yes you are able to see the dealer, but does that make it less likely to be dodgy??? I think not... I think quite the opposite in fact.

One persons integrity is a lot more likely to be suspect, than a multi-national company, that will make exactly the same amount of money regardless of what happens.

As for the never having been dealt the same cards 3 times in a row in live.... you would eventually if you played enough. Online is just much faster, so things that will happen eventually, happen sooner.

lol indeed.

Personally - I rarely play poker, in any form, now days - and if I were to have a game now, it's a pretty casual thing - for fun. And for that reason, I've been thinking lately about playing the odd live game again now.

But - I think for anyone serious about making money on this game, you'd be crazy not to play online - for sheer volume alone. Not to mention being able to even-out your variance.. When you're playing the hands-per-hour that live allows for, a losing streak can go on for-ever. If you imagine a 100K hands downswing - christ that is a hell of a lot of time spent in live games, online; not so much.

But, the grind (online) can certainly take the fun out of the game, at least it did for me.

Ironically, I've always thought that live poker is far more likely to be rigged, I couldn't count the amount of times, playing live, I've seen people thrown out for pinching chips when there's a break, etc. Online it's all controlled by technology, live - you're relying on humans and humans particularly gamblers, can be shifty.

------------
Oh and I suppose one other thing that is good about live play - the skill level compared to online (for the same stakes) is laughable.. At a lot of casinos, the lowest stake cash game is probably something like $1/$2 NL. And the quality of players is roughly equivalent of people place 1c/2c stakes online.

So - while you can't get in the same volume playing live, you can drastically increase your limits, without running into any serious 'talent'.

well you may have joined brm before many , but that doesn't mean you know more. a lot of poker sites are skin's of the main site, for example the Ipoker network has around 60 skins, all skins are owned by dirrerent people or companys, when people play the rake is devided between all skins, some of the owners of the skins hire ringers, they give them cash to play poker and hopefully make them some money, if they don't do well they drop them.this is all legal, the independents like stars , party , usually don't do this. i was also asked to do this by another network, when i used to run my poker forum. they have no more advantage then anybody else , except they are sponsored.depending on the network you can buy a skin for around 50K, but it's hard to get a good return, so this is why some skins do this.

you- I have been playing live now for years. When I started plying online,( long before I joined BRM), it was novel and fun. I still played live but due to work and time it was difficult. Moved to the Niagara area and poof 3 casinos in 20 minutes of driving. I was sponsored for online and live and,( just to clarify for some), the online left a bad taste. Anyways being I play 3 nights a week,( not including weekends and hubby sometimes plays too), over the years has added up to plenty of playtime. I do not play the $1 or $2 ring games and have done fairly well. Online is not for me. Felt the need to vent and maybe give a little of what I never do, insight.

I never said I knew more. I was speaking from personal experience, something you know nothing of with me. Not being offensive to you, so please have same respect. If you have to know I was approached LIVE and played both. Did some traveling etc. Those day's are way past for me and I just play for me now and my family. I made the company money and did pretty good for myself. I have my own personal reasons why I left, but I will say that getting out of my contract was not easy.

If anyone is offended by my thoughts on online poker not being for me well sorry I will not apologize for what works and does not for me. I decided to have a little rant here and said some negativity about online. Big deal. No one else ever has?

Anyway best to all from BRM.

Hey dlkv! Im amaized that you got banned in first place... Thats really fckd up! But I guess best of us got banned here Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile
Anyway, Im sort of pro online player and I can tell you Im not convinced at all that everything is regular with online poker but it works for me so...
Another important thing is that its almost impossible to make a living out of live poker. Maybe if you live in Vegas but even then if you want to make good money on regular basis you would have to play HUGE limits and really gamble it. Also expenses playing live are far bigger then those online. Bigger rake, drinks and food in casino, tips... And you need to cover all that and make decent $ every month playing just one table! Seems almost impossible for me.
Live poker is more fun no question about it. If you want to have fun and you are recreational player live casino is way to go, but if you want to make $ out of poker online is way better I think.

Cheers

Hey LOVE Smile Smile

Being I have 3 casinos to choose from and they all have different games going on ,( + I have this card that gives me free rooms, food drinks etc, as I play enough), I do ok. I never intend on making a living from this but it is a very nice supplement.

You have no idea what a breath of fresh air it is to me to see you here. Miss you dear Smile

Well, that is little better to have that large choice but I hink most of people just dont have that kind of choice in their place or even near to them. And to be honest if I live in Canada or some other economy developed place I wouldn't think of it myself. Because I couldnt find job I got into poker thing in 1st place Blink

As you can see I replayed to your thread after long absence so its clear why im not active anymore. I don't know lot of people these days and it seems that there is no more lot of interesting threads. But I still check forums out from time to time.
