Both Stars and FT pull out of countries they consider to be "grey markets". Most of them are in Africa or the Middle East. Players can't sit down on real money games any more, but still can cash out their funds.

"Concerns about a possible withdrawal of both rooms from the Canadian market are also supported by the fact that earlier this August PokerStars decided to cancel its partnership with the Montreal Festival, a decision that many have seen as a hint of the group's intention to pull out from Canada – at least until online poker is fully regulated in the country."

Of cause it is possible. It looks like they try to minimize their exposure to government actions to avoid further nasty surprises ala Black Friday. The new parent company is publicly traded, so their board is vulnerable to lawsuits.

Mauritius is not mentioned on the list circulating on the internet, but this one isn't official anyway. Amaya, the new parent company of Stars and FT, has not published a list of countries themself.

I wonder if that move would have happened with the old owners. But no matter what when these two sites stop operating in so many "grey markets" that means again, that again the game due to rules and regulations is going downhill. Good days of online poker are long past.

You are confusing something here. Deeper penetration is important to Blackjack play, but does not apply to p0ker at all. Maybe it is a hint, that they really want to introduce c4sino style games at Stars.

they already lost americans, which was a big profit loss, if they pull out of russia, then online poker is doomed, without those two countries, the poker site would go broke, like that happened to ultimatebet/absolute poker, after black friday, cause thats where most americans played.l
