It's been a few months since my last challenge now, and with the turning of the year, now seems like a great time for my next one.
For those of you that have been around a while, you'll know I usually offer a "guess and win" style competition... but I won't be doing that this time (mainly because I've decided I'm doing this challenge today, and I'll do it tomorrow, so there's no time to collect guesses)... Instead I want to start doing monthly challenges (once a month, every month) and host a Homegame at the end of each month to celebrate the inevitable success
I'll try and get a bit of input off you guys for later challenge ideas, but the January 2015 Challenge will be......
Make $100 profit in 24 hours playing only $0.25, 45-Man, Non-turbo SNGs
I will aim to play every one that plays, though this time the challenge will not be failed if I miss any. It's purely about profit.
I estimate that around 500 will play in a 24 hour period, so my ROI will need to be up near 100% to be successful... so certainly not going to be easy.

what it was the maximum number of tables played on one day for you at this limit and per total what is your average roi? i am almost 100% that is impossible what are you trying to do at this kind of level 0.25 to make 100 $ in 24 h .i dont wanna ruin your hoppes , and i am not a pessimist person but this is tottaly crazy .the math shows you that you will be impossible to play 500 games with 100% roi , i mean i dont think i ve seen someone to have this roi even at 0.25 cents.
but if you prrove that you have at least 50% roi for at least 2000 games maybe i will be at 90% shure that you will fail.

If you estimate only 500 games then I don't think you're gonna make it.. there's a guy who masstables all the micro stuff, from $0.02 hypers all the way to $1.50 45 mans, nanostake MTTs etc. etc. etc. alongside of his normal MTT schedule and he has only 30% ROI at the $0.25 45 mans, over more than 10K games sample (so pretty accurate). You should have a little bit bigger edge than him because he's really nitty & you're better than him, but there's no way someone can have 50% ROI edge over this pirticular player.
So to conclude, your goal might be achievable, but only with more volume than expected (I believe you will get more than 500 games in if you reg close to every game that opens), or with a decent upswing over the duration.

Hi host...
I've done various similar challenges in the past, with different tourney types - I've played probably close to 1,000 SNGs in one day in the past, but with Multi-Table SNGs, you are restricted to the amount that actually run (which I believe will be around 500). My average ROI for these games at these limits is currently at around 120%... to be successful with the challenge, I'll need around 80% so it's doable.
Just for the record... every other challenge I've done already I was told I'd fail

Yeah, pretty much agree BeMy....
I know a ~%100 ROI isn't sustainable long term, but I don't need to sustain it to be able to accomplish this challenge. If for example after 200 games my ROI is 200% (which is possible with a nice enough upswing), I'd basically be there already.

With the challenges you set you keep yourself glued to the game since every time it is something new and you don't get bored easily. I don't know how you started your new poker year, but I really hope you will do good and you will succeed in all of your goals. Good luck.

On my mini trial run, I got into 25 tournies in around half an hour... I would guess it will get a touch busier than this at peak, but a lot slower in the small hours... So I'm thinking it will be around 750 tournies altogether, making the challenge of profiting for $100 more achievable, but also meaning I will be playing MUCH more tables at once than I originally anticipated... I'm now thinking that I will be playing around 15 tables at it's quietest, and anywhere up to 50 at the most busy. 25 was easily manageable, so that side of it should be ok...
Trial run results are:
25 tournies played, profit of $6.27... meaning an ROI of over 100% even without the rake adjustment...

Do you play stacked? I dont really have any table order, I leave them as they appear on the screen, and find 30 tables of MTSNGs to be fine to play. Playing stacked is a lot easier though, so if you don't do it yet, play stacked at least through the peak hours. Very nice and interesting challenge, no way I'd have the stamina for a 24h session, so again, gl on your task

Wow man, I wish you all the best for your challenge, but certainly this is not going to be easy at all. Only $0.25 and non-turbo SNGs? Do you want to play 24 hours in a row? I guess you might have to do that to earn 100 Dollars.

Yeah leno... I will be playing for more than 24 hours in total - I will register for 24 hours, then play out the remaining tournies, so it will be more like 26 hours altogether.

Posted by StheP: thats a lot... I think you could do it if you play full 24h... Good luck man and I wish you to achive your goal
Thanks bud
Strangely, I'm actually thinking that my best chance is gone if I don't succeed by around the 20 hour mark, as with all previous challenges the last few hours have been tougher to keep the winrate up... Although there was much less difference in results when I was doing the 360man SNGs than when I was playing all the Scheduled MTTs in the final few hours, so who knows? I'm hoping the fact I'll only be playing one game type/buy-in/structure throughout will be a huge help with my stamina... both mental and physical...

I will follow with interest.
I find it interesting how different people tile tables differently.
I tile mine in different ways depending on the games I'm playing.
At start of night when I tend to play 3/4 different sites for freerolls, I have one site in each corner and stack all tables on the same site (sky tables all on top of each other, party etc etc). More than 4 sites and it gets hairy though, I played 7 on some nights over xmas and lost a lot of value I think.
Then when they are done with, I usually open 4-16 dyms and these I stack all in one corner. Then, as I get through the levels I move them, so middle levels will be in another corner and my bottom right corner is always reserved for the games I have to pay serious attention to (bubble games normally)
