No. Bitcoin is a ponzi scheme, has no real value behind it - and there isn't two days in a row when it's worth the same. No, just no.

I agree with bowie, the price of this currency fluctuates massively and after all the fraud involved with it it would be one hell of a risk to buy any thing other than tiny amounts of bitcoin.
At one point the price was $1200....now around $250.One day you could $1000 in your poker account and the next day it is down to $300 without even having the pleasure of losing it in the casino. Smile

I wish I could've buy a thousand of them when thy were around 10 bucks, but the thing is when a country have it's currency you know their 'real' economic situation and monetary policies backing that currency's value etc. Things they are capable of doing or having (obviously no longer the gold standard, but that's a whole another story) or whatnot.
With bitcoin you just left in the middle of the desert if you want to know about the things above. It's value changing every minute and it's standard is chained to the us dollar, which makes me question why would I use this virtual currency when I can have the ones with something behind it.
If you are mining them, then good luck, I hope you were early to the game but if you are exchaging them day2day then you are lucky you aren't broke yet...
It's a scheme, no doubt.

You could argue the same about the dollar. The value there is also mostly about perception. If you look at the US state deficit and national debt, there is no real value behind it, is there?
There may come a day when the dollar (or any other currency for that matter), loses most it's value over night...

spot on Thumbs Up marqis always has something valuable to say.

in reality every currency is only alive as long as we believe it's worth something. however the real value of it is only paper and ink required to print it. no more no less. when we talk emoney- there's no value at all- just a bunch of numbers moved over from one account to other... keep believing and we'll be ok.

As I mentioned, you kinda new the monetary policies behind the dollar and the economic surroundings which justify it's value and use. There isn't anything like this close to bitcoin, that is why it's untrustable.
The dollar frequently loses it's value overnight, it's called inflation. But I don't see in the close future to go into collapse mode - only if a zombie apocalypse happens, the russians drop the bomb or Manhattan goes under the water 'cuz the global warming.
I won't be alive when any of this going to happen.

I would never put my money into that. I am already gambling too much if you ask me, at some point,
and i dont want to start gamble with gambling Smile
If you wanna bet in currency, try forex. The risk factor there is big, but you are not in danger of losing your money if you still havent invested it. Something that doesnt happen with bitcoins.

well yeah i understand what bowie is trying to say- established currencies don't have big fluctuations like bitcoin (except russian ruble Big Smile ) so you can have one worry less, sure it's no fun when you get back from holidays to see your poker account shrunk twice even though you haven't played a hand... wtf? let people lose their money themselves...jeez the dudes behind bitcoin are evil Evil

I am not saying they are evil, but how do you render values into something which just ones and zeroes in binary code and only exists on you hardrives?
You see I probably wouldn't have a big problem with this if this was just like 2+ years ago, when bitcoins were worth jacksh1t and it were the playthings of the folks on the deep web. Now that is a mainstream virtual currency I really have my doubts over it, especially have hard time understanding why would somebody pushing for it in the first place.
