freerolls  0
i dont know how many people ever thought of this , i would like your input into this matter maybe start a petiton.i have noticed in quite a few poker sites that offer freerolls, but heres the kicker in order to enter these supposed freerolls your supposed to acquire a certain amount of raked hands.i guess the dictionary has been wrong all these years in there definition of free. i always thought that free means exactly that free nothing required / no cost to you if the poker sites want you to requyire raked hands in order to enter these tournaments then they should change the wording . because in my book i think all the sites that are doing this are breaking the law

freerolls => no enter fee , no buy-in

raked hands are not a buy-in

sometimes there are some freerolls you can log in only with FPP (PS) or FTP (FTP) or buks (Action poker) or bonus tickets.. but they are named FREEROLL... i agree it's stupid and barely illegal (wrong name)

These kind of freerolls are goodys for the active players on those sites. Just don't bother with those. There are enough poker sites and enough free freerolls on the net. Simply switch the room.

They definatly should not be called freerolls if they require raked hands or them aking money in any way. I always hate seeing "FREEROLL" then it requiring some criteria of them taking money off you Aww crap!

yes it is stupid, but thats the way it is.things aint ever gunna change, how they get you to go to there site, mabie even put in money.but, they do offer some sweet money sometimes for little money,so use there generosity to take there money, and cash out.

I don't agree, I think they will change. Just like they already have Smile In the beginning, a freeroll was exactly what aprlisamont says (except for the law breaking stuff Blink ) - but the online poker business today just doesn't allow it anymore, it appears, so they start to require raked hans for players to participate in some freerolls. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, but sometimes you also need to have REAL freerolls that are totally free (like ours $3000 pokerstars freeroll).

Who knows, maybe in 5 years things will have changed again - maybe nothing is called freeroll then, or freerolls are back to what they were in the year of 2000 Smile Will be interesting to see.

I totally agree; a freeroll should be opened to all players without conditions.

I don't want to talk about legal effects but if a poker room wants to offer a freeroll tournament, as for me, has to give to all a signing up opportunity. Cool

after reading your response admin, when you said you didn"t think there was anything wrong about them asking for raked hands to enter their freerolls, this is where your mentality and everyone else:s has to change, because a raked hand is a form of payment and thus the word freeroll shouldnt be used in any form if other people arent allowed to enter we could debate this until we turn blue in the face but as far as im concerned and the dictionary definition is concerned free is free no points needed or money needed to join

its wrong that freerolls cost u any money... at PKR there r high level freerolls u have u pay PKR points or have to be a certain member (u get by collecting PKR points).

This is ok, because they payout 200 300 or more Big Smile

If you start talking about breaking the law you should argue it much better. Give the precise definition of freeroll (if it exists). You shouldn't make fuss about nothing. If you don't like it - just don't eat it imho.

I think they should make a difference between players for freerolls. If you play somewhere frequently and if site wants to reward those players by offering them freerolls then it should need certain amount of raked hand. Bad side is that low limit players ruin not only those freerolls, microgaming is best example where people don`t play at all but try to get into money by holding up the game, but they also ruin tables where they try to get that one raked hand or 10 raked hands by calling and raising just to get pot over $5.
