When your losing internet connection every 5 minutes like i do. I like to slow play my big pkt hands, allthough if i get 2 raisers in front of me ill up the anti, or if im playing a 10 seat table and most people call in front of me ill raise, but i dont raise to much because i still want to get paid. Dollar Dollar Dollar Dollar Dollar Dollar Dollar

------------
also depends on how big the blinds are, the bigger the blinds the less freindly i get with my monsters.

It happend to me several times that I had a set on the flop and start to slowplay, give away free cards and my opponent hits a flush on the river, it usally happens when i only get bad cards, and when I finally hit a high pair i'm so happy to make a set that i don't pay attention to the rest of the deck, I know it is bad play from my side but sometimes it does happen Aww crap!

I think you must give value to your hands.

If your playing against a calling station then just bet bet bet and never slow play any thing.

If my opp(s) are aggressive I'll slow play and look to them to do the betting.

Otherwise how I play a monster depends on how I've been playing up to that point. If I've been aggressive and raising people off hands then once again I'll bet bet bet and hope the opp(s) will be sick of my raising and call me down light.

If I've been quiet and nitty then I'll propably check the flop, hope they catch up a little, then look to bet for value on the turn and river.

In general though I think slow playing is over rated and don't do it often. If you want to win a big pot you've got to get money in the middle so I think that betting/raising is usually the best option.

If your opp(s) have nothing your not gonna win a big pot no matter what you do - so just be happy with a small pot Smile

You should only slow play if you can be quite sure to make more money with that play. If you are up against a very aggressive player for example.

And don't burn yourself doing so. If you slowplay , your opponent should improve his hand. But be sure he does not beat your hand. So slowplaying one pair hands etc. is dangerous.

i do that "sometimes" with pocketaces (only aces tho). maybe i raise to high or something and ppl fold ? so i think to my self, either i lose 2-3 BB, that doesnt hurt so much, or i win a big pot by slowplay. but in tournys with high BB´s i never do that.

When you raise preflop and then make a cbet. When the opponenent is a calling station. When you are sure that your hand is masked...

When my opponent is a calling station i will do anything but slowplaying. Bet, bet, bet is the only line against those guys.
