To be or not to be... a donk  0
In this forum we can read a lot of threads talking about donks.
In my opinion, we all are "the donk of someone".
For example, i know that when I play SNG I try to play very tight.
But in the freerolls MTT, it's very difficult to play "normally" because a lot of players are going all-in preflop with strange hands (J7, or 53!! yes it's true ! Big Smile ). So, sometimes if you go on playing normal way, your chips are quickly flying away because it's impossible to play one hand without going all-in.
So I admit, sometimes, when there is no other choice, I switch to donk way of playing and take big risks. So I accept to be called a donk.

But, in the other hand, I often smile when "pro players" judge me or want to teach me poker : One time I was playing a SNG on Titan Poker, 5 players remaining (3 places paid) I was very short stack and got 99. I went all-in before flop because of my stack.
In my opinion, no other choice for me. A medium stack called with A7os and did'nt hit an ace, so i stayed in the tournament. And you know what? The other players got angry to me and called me donk, saying that i had made a very stupid move and that it was only luck because A7os was a better hand and so on....
At this moment, I had no feeling to be a donk but those players considered me like one. So, the judgement we have on differents ways of playing can vary according to the situation we have to deal with.
Well perhaps should we all learn to be a little more tolerant at a poker table....

Calling an all-in with A7o and complaining when losing. Expert play. Big Smile

What does this guy expect? A7 isn't a hand to call with. If he is up against a better ace he has 3 outs, if he is up against a middlelish pair he has three outs. Donkplay. Big Smile

A7o is not a better hand than 99. You have an already made hand, and they have to hit a 3 outer to bust you. Don't listen to them, they're the donks in reality.

Freerolls are b******t, end of. Never adjust the way you play, always get your chips in with the best of it and expect to sucked out on.

lol great minds shokaku Smile

Leave them talking or, if you don't want to listen to them, switch chat off Blink

With 99, short stack, 5 players left i go all in all life long, no matters what they say Blink

In Italy ( and in Rome in particular ) we use to say : E STI CAZZI !!! Tongue

internet...donk is as common as newbie.
i dont find it offending. i also often call ppl donks for fun - mostly the good players Smile

Calling with A7o isn't always a bad call, no matter what hand you're up to. It depends on several things, like tournament type and what it costs to call. Anyway - it sounds pretty stupid to call you a donk, because you really did the right move this time! But think of it once again and you might understand that it was just a try to make you do a bad move later on. Who knows?

i prefer having pocket 2´s than A7o to be honest. AK AQ down to A8 and all pocket pairs beat your hand.
A7o is for me instant fold if someone goes ALL in...

Interesting. SNG, NL Texas Hold'em, 3 places paid, 4 players left. Blinds 100/200.
UTG is fi1 with 400 chips. He raises all-in.
fi2 folds, small blind folds. One player left, and that's you. You're dealt A7o and it costs 200 chips to call. Your stack is about 3000. What do you do?

a) fold
b) call

hmm, I'm only folding to an all in from a short stack with A7o if: the move appears out of desperation, I'm last to act, the blinds are high and the call isn't for more than a 5th of my stack. Obvioulsy it also depends on the image the player has at the table...

This is completely different from the situations T3ddyKGB was mentioning. And you know that.

What is different?

He says he was short stacked, 5 players left (4 in my example).
The only thing we do not know is the exakt amount of the stacks and the players positions.

EDIT: What I'm trying to say is: don't look at the hand from the 99 players perspective. Look at it from the fi's perspective. And if fi is you:

"I only call if the call is a maximum of 1/5 of total stack". Why? You don't even know that you're up to 99, it could as well be 62o. See what I mean?

Hello?

Being shortstacked and having only 2 BB left IS different.

Yes, 400 chips with a starting chips of 1000-1500 is short stack NO MATTER what the blinds.

I'm not even sure what his point is and he incorrectly quoted me too. BAH!
