I am currently waiting for my free bankroll from bankroll mob on playersonly.com for 40 gold chips. While I wait I thought i would share how i turned a $25 free bankroll from another site, into $580. On may 20th I was givin the bankroll on an Ongame site, and started off by playing .5/.10 limit poker. After grinding it out for many many hours, my bankroll was at 80 dollars. At this time i switched from .5/.10 limit to .5/.10 NL. Running bad i slowly dwindled that 80 down to 24, at which time I took a step back from poker for a few days. On coming back I was looking through rooms when I saw a juicy 1/2 room. Upon watching the room for 15 minutes or so I started to see a pattern of the same two people dumping off chips. So with a bit of guts,(no guts no glory) i jumped into the room to test the waters. Within 23 hands, I was upto 75 dollars. I figured that if i could just look for fish in 1/2 limit rooms, i would be able to bank a lot of money. Over the next few days I played 1/2 limit when i felt i had the advantage, and .5/.10 NL when I wanted to minimize risk. I hovered around 80-140 for the next week. Yesterday I found some of the best fish i have ever played with, and played I did, at the end of the night I was upto 275 dollars without ever risking close to any of my bankroll. My method is 20 dollar hit and runs on tables with a few weak players, out of the last 17 times i have sat down, i have only lost my $20 twice. Today I entered a $2 dollar omaha PL rebuy tournament, 3 buy ins, and an hour and a half later i am sitting at 60,000 in chips, first place and ready to win. I went on to win the tournament, never below 120,000 in chips from the second break. Heads up battle was scary as it really could have went either way, dominating him in chips, 560k to his 250. I flopped a straight, and made an underbet at the pot knowing it would provoke him to come over the top. That he did, so i pushed all in and he called. The next two cards turn and rivered me giving him a fullhouse. From there i slowly worked my way back into the lead untill I finally caught him bluffing and came in first place. $260 dollars in my account! Now with $535 I have been playing 1/2 limit, buying in with 20 and leaving when I am up and the fishy stop biting. I am currently sitting at $590 and holding strong. My plan is to play 1/2 Limit, .50/1 Limit as well as MTT under $6. I will keep you all posted on my success or failure, although I am feeling good about building my bankroll even further now. 16 days, 4694 hands, 339 hours of playing =$590 BR +$500 Net "Poker:The hard way to make an easy living" Heretik
------------ I have finished playing for the night now, I entered a 3.30 500 guaranteed tourny before bed. 196 players, prize pool 588. After playing a very good game, I came first in this tourny, netting me another $176 for the night. Thats two first place finishes in MTT's today as well as a bit of winnings from 1/2 Limit. My bankroll now stands at $775.37 16 days and counting. 16 days, 4863 hands, 342 hours of playing = $775 BR | +$698 Net "Poker: The hard way to make an easy living" Heretik

Have to agree with doomdy. This is not good bankrollmanagement.
But you pulled through and had a nice increase in your bankroll.

Even though it is not wise, it is a hell of a kick to play for all your money... I almost never do it, but when you shove it all in with a hand you're ALMOST sure is the best... the relief when winnnig is incredible.
Congrats to you Heretik. Bankroll management is really important, but so is good poker and fish-finding!

I will admit, i did infact get lucky with good strings of cards at the crucial time(+ a table full of fish lol). At this point I am never fully risking my bankroll, as i go into 1/2 LIMIT with 20 dollars after scoping rooms out for 20 minutes or so. I jumped on my account earlier today sat down in a .50/1 LIMIT room while i waited for someone to stop by. I made 10 dollars during said time making my BR $785 . Realizing how much money i had I choose to cash out a bit, but leave a nice hunk to continue playing with. To minimize swings I will be moving down to .25/.50 Limit for a while. I cashed $500 to a cheque, and left $285 in my account to rebuild from, which i dont think will be all that hard if i just stay within .25/.50 for the time being. I will keep you guys updated when I play a little later today, and thank you guys for the encouragment and support!

I dont know about tips, but i can let you in on my method of finding weaker players that has worked for me. The first thing I do is look for rooms with an above average pot size. This much tells you that the players are either playing very loose, or there are a couple of fish's dumping off chips. From there I join the room but do not take a seat. I then catagorize the players using Phil Helmuths animal types(Play Poker Like the Pro's Book). I look for people betting with middle/bottom pair and taking it to showdown, for people 4 betting with any two cards pre-flop, and then reaising/reraising with flush and straight draws. I watch for 10-20 minutes untill I am sure I know how people are playing, by then I can tell who i can get into confrontations with, and who is playing a solid game and I should stay away from unless I am holding the goods. I then sit down with my $20 dollars at the 1/2 Limit table. The hands I will play depends on position and players in the hand. I am more likely to make a raise into a weaker player, knowing that they will call me with any two cards, and if i hit the flop even the slightest bit, I have a chance to take a big pot. Youd be suprised how often I win pots with ace high, top pair or middle pair on the board, because these players will take it to showdown with bottom pair, hoping to hit a miracle card. I try to keep an eye out for straight/flush possibilities as you can start to see a pattern. If a guy caps the pot pre with 57 offsuit or any other two cards, im a little weary when he re-raises me when the boards 346A and im holding AK. At this time i will call and check the river and at least make it a cheap decision if i choose to call. Im sure this method could use some fine tuning, but it has worked for me thus far. Anyone with any other added input should throw in there two cents. Heretik

Dont listern to them if your comftable playing with all you bankroll "kick on " as my dear old dad would say. I do it all the time... I deposit when i get payed on what ever site i fancy playing that month then as i win through the month i withdrawal bits and pieces . If i loose it all i wait till the next month knowing that i've already won! Unless i loose on the very first game i play, but that has not happened yet...lol I always deposit between £50 and £100 and play a few 5c/10c ring games so sitting there tight is easy enough till ive made a few $$ then hit the $5 SnG's once ive withdrawn my initial deposit i tend to move up the stakes quickly playing SnG's with half my bankroll at a time. The most ive cashed out in a month is £300(not much compaired to some people) but it keeps me honest and makes me play hard if i want to keep playing all month... The worst ive done is withdrawen my initial deposit and only lasted 1 week so i had 3 weeks of not playing to reflect on my poor playing.....

It might work some times But you could run in to a bad beat.. And then your screwed! Big time!
Good example is..:
When i started at Full tilt i had about 350$ on my account I was a bit tired and miss clicked on a table.
Sitting down with 100$ at a $1/$2 table instead of 10$ at a $0,05/$0,10 table..
Happends to i first saw that when i got dealt my cards on the BB 3 man action and i get KK The guys on the button Standars raises 3x BB I then Reraise him to 18$ He Re-re-raises me to 50$ And im All in! He calls!
Flop Q23 Turn J River 7
I show him the KK /And think i was lucky getting that hand in the first hand on the wrong table..

This is a forum for beginner poker-players. You advice them to skip the BankRollManagement and go straigth to higher limits. Very bad advice for beginner poker players.

Bankroll:$285 I just finished playing some poker and thought I would update you guys as to how it was going. I started off with a $1.10 omaha PL tourny, 366 people entered. I was down to 5K in chips, 54 people left,40 is the bubble. The blinds are at 1k/2k and the BB is coming towards me. I get 9cAc9d7h and push all in to pick up the blinds hopefully. I get called by a short stack and he hits a pair that is above mine and wins. 1300 in chips left and next hand i get AcKh5d5s so i push again. This time i run into aces and im out in 53rd place. From there I took $20 into a 1/2 LIMIT room, and due to some stupid moves on my part i ended up losing it. I took a break, had some lunch and then jumped into another 1/2 FL room with 20. After getting dealt aces, ace queen hitting my ace, and ace king hitting my ace I have recovered the lost $20 dollars and am still at $285 for the day, even steven. To clear things up, everyone i am playing LIMIT poker, so the majority of my bankroll is safe, as i cannot push all in with my hands, i play limit because it minimizes the cost of my mistakes when I do make them. As well I wouldnt consider myself a new poker player. I have been playing for going on almost 4 years, and have cashed in a few live tournys and taken my fare share of $$ off the tables at casinos and homegames. Last summer inbetween jobs i survived off of playing poker alone in home games, ending up +1200 in the span of 2-3 weeks. Yet again i dont think i am a beginner poker player, just a losing online one up untill now I am starting to really work on my game and trying to plug leaks. Heretik

Just finished playing 1/2 FL for the night. Was a bit more swinging than in the past over 4 hours or so I lost 2 $20 dollar buy ins. At this point I took a break, came back and then got myself back to $287. I am currently playing a 2 dollar PL omaha MTT, and am registered in the $3 500 guarantee that i came first place in last night. This leaves me at $282 for the day. -$2 is not bad for the amount of cards today. Was not my strongest play, near the end I started to get a bit loose and lucky for me I started to hit. Been playing wayyyy to much poker in the last 2 days lol. I will update tomorrow with my tournament standings, and then will most likely take a break for a day or two. Thanks again for the encouragement, advice and support. "Poker: The hard way to make an easy living" Heretik
Very interesting story. I hope that there'll be some happy ending as well.
Don't climb on too high stakes because with a lil' bit of a bad luck you can loose you whole bankroll easily... I climbed my bankroll nicely a few times and then after forgetting about BRM I simply lost everything in a few hands in high stake ring games. Well, no risk - no fun.
