tilt and wtf  0
hi guys.

im going to tell you a wonderful tale about bankroll management. i know that most of you are probably very disciplined in it but since i am mainly playing for fun and its free money anyway i went a bit mad. i also have some pics to add but i don't know how, so any help there would be nice.

so it all started out on party poker. im usually only playing sng's but the low stakes sng on party are all really fast turbo so i started playing cash. my bankroll was about 50$ and i took $10 on to 3 tables, not great brm but i dont really care. after an hour or so i had double up on 2 and lost one. i took a break and repeated this a few times, my roll was now up to $90. great!i repeat the process and after only a few hands i land AA on 2 tables at the same time (insert pic). inevitably i lost them both at the same time. didnt take that much of a hit since both was only a short stack attack but i got annoyed and stopped playing. the next day i start with the same strat, 3 tables $10 each and on the first hit lose all 3 tables, annoyingly all to bad beats! this is where things take a turn for me.

my roll is now at about $50 again not too bad since thats where i started out but i put alot of hrs into it and have nothing to show, except about 20% into clearing my next bonus. well i decide to take half my roll into a higher stake than i normally play. i end up taking $20 into the 0.25/0.50 after not long of playing ive doubled up, through small pots. then i hit abit of a fishy hand and get lucky and double up again. (http://www.bankrollmob.com/forum.asp?mode=thread&i... so my roll is pretty high, about $120, higher than ever because i tilted went above my range and got very lucky.

there's much more to this story but i have to go out now so ill finish it off tonight Blink

Nice story, shows how hard it is to stick to your gameplan.

Good luck building your bankroll, but be aware not to do this to often or you find your bankroll close to zero.

This sounds to me like a very risky way to play poker, but good job if you managed to make some cash like that. Keep winning and good luck m8. Thumbs Up Smile

Till now its not a sad story, its a prety one actualy. A poker player has to try new and higher levels in order to see if he is available and if he have what it takes to play. You just showed you have what it takes to play at $0.25/$0.50. Perhaps in the end of this story you'll say you have ruined all your bank, but thats ok because "its free money anyway". In this time, you know you can make some cash in poker, if you continue to have brains. You will only show everybody that you are ready to enter with your own money to the tables. Many online players put their own cash online without having proofs of the quality of the game they play: better for us! Blink

This is a prime example of what NOT TO DO with a free bankroll

Its the easiest way to blow the lot and typifies the terrible attitude of people who apply for free money and go at it madly not caring if they win or lose it.

The whole point of bankrolls from sites is to make them grow and be disciplined so you get the further money and also build up enough so you dont have to deposit your own money. $50 is all you need to get you started..

Why people feel its actually a good thing to go putting 20% of your bankroll on one game I do not know. Its actually just plain crazy and a slight insult to those that do follow good bankroll management and try really hard.

i cant understand how i can not win playing at sensible stakes cash games with a solid strategy (i think) and other people can win like yourself. Aww crap! I must say that i am jealous of your attitude towards free money if i were to adopt this attitude i may win but like my friends always say to me i am tighter than a duck's arse when it comes to money be it free money or hard earned. never mind my quest to become a pro poker player continues. i dont see an edit button so im gonna continue here.

so im sitting on $120 and im feeling lucky. knowing that i want to risk it all i withdraw $70 leaving me with $50 and a nice little profit in my bank Smile. So i take the whole lot onto a 0.50/1.00 the play at this table was suprisngly fishy and after 3 hrs of small pot poker im sitting on $160ish. now while im at this table im picking up alot of money because people are either playing so tight that if they raise pre flop im not going in the hand without a monster or they are just a nice loose fishy. i get one hand which i have had happen to me before and i knew exactly what was going on but just couldnt get away. one super tight player raises 4BB so i know he is on a monster, but i have aks and i cant just muck the hand. i call. flop comes out a k rag. he checks and i bet the pot he raises, im all in. well obviously he has the aces and i lost but this is just the price you pay when you have no bankrollmanagement.

even though ive made a nice little profit off party im still pretty cheesed off because i knew that i was behind and just couldnt let the hand go. now things take another turn! i head over to full tilt and join a $40ish super turbo sng. thats 300 starting chips. 3 minutes blinds. well this is by far the easiest game of my life. i get aa twice and kk. after about 10 hands ive knocked out 5 players and have a massive chip lead. i come first and take the $200ish (dont really remember the exact amounts here). i play again and win again. i play one last time on a slightly lower buyin and win again! this was probably the most ridiculous luck i have ever had in about 30 minutes ive lost $160 and won $300-400.

knowing full well the madness that was about to follow i withdraw $400ish. leaving $149, my lucky number. i decided now is a time to seriously put to the test my luck. i join a 6 handed $59 super turbo knockout mtt. $10 bounty 300 starting chips. about 1200 players start and top 120 paid. the tourney was going well and i won a coinflip early on. i think my aq vs 88. by this time there is about 600 players left and i know two more coinflips and im in the money. with some blind stealing and beating a SB short stack with trash hand vs trash hand im looking good shape to fold into the money. about 300 people. well my next hand is AKs. brilliant! and even better someone before me pushs all in. i reraise all in and am called by someone even bigger. the pot is big enough that if i win i will be chip leader! im definatly worried but also excited because the top prize was 8k or something. the cards turn over and im facing AJ and QQ. not a bad flip to be facing imo. the flop comes with QJ something. I look away in complete fear...

I only look back at the screen when i hear the blinds on the next hand posted. but whats this, theres someone sitting at my seat. Sad. im really upset at this point because i thought that my luck would be endless, i would be chip leader and go on to make at least a few hundred if not a few thousand. after all this i take the remaining balance and withdraw.

Thats it, i have had more than my share of luck, for now. ill take my money and a nice little break from poker. i think im going to buy a nice shiny new guitar with my winnings and i wont be back on the tables untill i can play my favourite guitar solo song eruption by van halen (so maybe ill be back tommorow Big Smile)

i hope you enjoyed my story of basically sheer luck. i have learned alot, and after looking back at my poker history i know exactly where i am going to be when i come back. $2 18seat turbo ftp. i hope one day ill see you there.

untill that day good luck and goodbye
Dave xx

i too play out of my bankroll i think you get a little bit of a better game playing at a higher level.
You think you are being lucky? have you played for long? is it that you are hitting cards? or others are not hitting cards?
your graph is good thats some +EV...lol
Maybe you just hit a sweet spot on a few tables...
If you dont normally play this way do yopu normally win?...
Why will you come back to $2 sng turbos? if you have the skill to see what you have done to be lucky why cant you adjust your game to stay at the higher level?
Many questions to be answered .../.;'

got a few updates for me blog. Smile

After i withdrew everything my ftp acc my current rolls looked something like this.
Partypoker - $3
Full Tilt - Loads of points Smile
Pokerstars - 0.85

i signed up at stars before i found brm and they credited my acc with $2 at some point and i played 1 sng and lost.

so my rolls were looking pretty poor and really like i said in my previous posts i wasnt looking to play much poker, at least not yet. so i wasnt going to open my wallet and use my own money.

since ftp is my favourite site i figured i would just use my points and have some fun. winning entry into the daily dollar on my first game was a nice feeling. for those of you that dont know it, its $1 entry and usually about 7000-10000 players. so i pretty nice pool if you get high up. needless to say after about 5-6 hours and staying up way into the night i fell asleep. however i did win a prize. $5. i nice start to my new roll. almost sticking to my prvious post i decided i would just play the $1 sng untill i made over $15. since i cashed my first 5 games it wasnt long before i could start playing my favourite game. 18man turbo. with some more luck and one day layer im again at a decent roll of around $50.

After a drunk night coupled with payday, i came home and entered myself into a couple high stakes sngs and inevitably lost most my roll. taking the remainder into low stakes cash and losing the rest. although i agree that all this was stupid, it was pretty fun at the time.

I decided that it was time for me to use a new room since i always end up doing stupid things on full tilt. party had been good to me in the past and i still have a nice bonus to clear, but i figured 85c on stars would either disappear in a matter of minutes or double up and start something new. well i doubled up. followed by a triple up (ish). so im on around $5. sensing a pattern in my play i move to the $1 sng. although stars sngs werent really appealing to me i decided to play their DoNs. at first i was winning around 50% of the games which is not profitable since rake at micro stake sucks. but adjusting my style from loose aggresive to tight passive payed off big time. it wasnt long before i was over the $10 mark and i could move on to the $1.75 18man turbo. i dunno if i just got lucky but in the past 3 days i have enough time to get home from work eat multi 4-5 of these tables. and every day i have won at least one. yesterday coming 1st in 2 2nd in 1 3rd in 1 and 5th in another. although top 4 cash still pretty remarkable. so right now im looking down at my poker stars roll of $96.

im feeling pretty good about stars at the moment and although i really want to hit $100 im gonna be sensible for the first time and not go for it. instead im gonna start off in party and try and clear my bonus. if or more likely when i lose my $3 there ill just go back and use up the last of my full tilt points trying to get into the daily dollar Smile.

hope you enjoyed more of my dumb luck stories
dave

I know this kind of stuff too good Big Smile if you are tilting and knowing it, stop playing and rest for some 20 minutes by doing something else...

Nice. From 85cent to nearly 100 bucks is an achievement. Continue the good work.

Now become the new tuff fish on Party. Big Smile

Discipline rules.
Almost everybody who tells their no deposit bonus experience here has bad things to tell. Thats only because of a lack of discipline. Like it is free money, players tend to get easy on it, without caring if its goings away or entering. Thats why when its over, people come "cry" in the forum. It was the same with me. To you, like others reading this that want to learn something, just two simple words to follow: Discipline rules.

your story is my story and a lot of others story. But normally what happens is losing the rest of the bankroll and not winning. I became very angry when the effort of a lot of hours is stolen by3 or 4 ridiculous bad beats. It is the most difficul phase for me!
