I am doing good so far, but its still a long way to go to make a living from playing poker, but you never know... it might be possible someday.

I've been playing poker since 2 months

i've get some bankrolls, always breakeven, but I dream which getting money and living with poker
I know it is possible, but I know it is not so easy, perhaps possible
I'm trying to do my best and grow my bankroll up
when I could cash out about $500 per month I'd be pleased

Is it actually possible to live with 500$ per month in brazil?? (in bigger cities like rio de janeiro)

Dont stop school/job until ur proved ur a winning player for 5 years.
I only play 1 year make averaga $1,000 a month have now $13,000+
I allways told myself i only go pro when i make $20,000 a month else its not worth it for me.

Where do you usually play, Doomdy?

I like poker very much. But I think that I will never make poker my way of living. Because after all poker for me has to be a hobby. Being a profitable hobby is secondary. And I think that most of us should think that way. I guess that if poker was my way of living it will lose a lot of the fun i have now!

Playing poker for a living isn't a secure income, especially in these days with so many people learning about poker.

Play for fun

i would love to play pro Smile , trouble is i start to build a bankroll from scratch on freerolls, get up to £10 to £50, then i blow it in the casinos, lol, i play around 4 hours plus every night every week for about 3 years. ounce got bankroll up to £375 within a week only to blow it all within an hour in casino. guess i have always been a bad bad gambler Aww crap! can get into the money in freerolls, build it on sit n go's, and triple up in side games. what i cant do is resist the dam casinos and the bandits,
i guess if i ever got pro i could sustain myself but loose it all in a flash, gotta know your limitations Blink

I hope i will be able to live on my pokerwinnings one day.
BUT i would have to make a lot more with poker than with a regular job! You also need to think about your pension and other advantages that come with a regular job.

man..i mean with 375€ you have a good bankroll and a good opportunity to build a BIGGER bankroll.you really need to control yourself and start playing that money you win on poker, because casino games..man they are just a way to lose money.i mean you can win a lot today or tomorrow but in the long run you will just end up losing every time. like in the roulette.you bet black you have 46.777(i think)% chance of getting black.but thats not 50 %.casino games always have a trick in order to make them profitables for the casinos.and thats the beauty of poker, you dont need to gamble (in the true meaning of this word)

my advice to you is:when you have 200 or more, just put them in a poker room which doesnt have casino games so that you cant be tempted to play them

but hey who am i to advise you?when i go to casinos i really cant control myself when im losing money.i always think i can turn it around.well, thats why ive stopped going to casinos.

and you must be thinking.what does this kid knows about life that he can actually think he can advise me?well i know almost nothing, but one thing i know for sure. gamblers life isnt a nice life..

(ofcourse i dont consider poker gambling.becasue it isnt)

Doomdy, with average 1Grand a month you would make a decent living in some countries.. Smile
It`s average payment in Poland in example.. If I am going to establish such profit over a year I will consider going "pro"..

Well poker is about fun. And there is no chance one can make a living with it. Because they can't always win a game and which means they may have to stay hungry if they don't win.lol

what?you crazy or something. of course a person can live of poker.and yes its true thats every people has bad runs and great runs but the mission of pro players is to make a lot of money during the "normal" time so that they can have money even when they are in a bad run
and a LOT of players can do that..

Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile good luck with that.. don;t quit ur day job just yet

I think as a poker player you enjoy what you are doing otherwise you wouldnt do it!
Its not supprising that the mojority of people would like to go pro and make a living from poker but it is a long way away for a lot of us..............

Not just in stake turms but in motivation and application..... dont get me wrong i would love to earn a living from playing poker but i feel unless you get a big win to kick your carrier off it is a long hard struggle to make it big..but having said that with the boom in online poker you can win a fortune any night of the week. That would be a great achivement but would you play at a much higher stake to increase your winnings?
Surely you would have to inprove you game to compete at greatly higher stakes.... im not so sure . but
you would have to greatly improve your or keep to your bankroll managment...
