Where do you think the luck has more importance combined with skill?I mean, which are the types of game where the luck has higher procentage( ring tables, sit&go's,heads'u,tournaments etc) ?

i think in such as tournament, where blind increase every 3min and you get only 300starting chips Smile

Of course in this situation the luck is very important, but i refer mostly to normal games(6 up to 10 cash games, sit&go's and tournaments with blinds increasing every 10 min or more and a decent value of starting chips)

In MTTs when blinds really high its a shove-fest so more luck involved.
CASH games is most skill, basicly the most pure poker.

Tourneys involve most luck. It is based on the payout structure. And if deep in a tourney AK is all in preflop against QQ, there is no skill involved.

To quote a pokerplayer.

"In a singel hand there are 99% luck and 1% skill. In a pokerlifetime there is 99% skill and 1% luck"

Anyway I agree with most that there is more luck involved in tourneys than on cash-tables.

You definitely need luck in cash games, lots of players don't play patiently and always gamble a lot so if you are dealt a big hand, you need much luck than in a normal MTT because you'll get lots of callers especially if if limit hold'em. Where in MTT, luck you need it when blinds are big as it's at these moments you can't just sit back and wait for only huge hands... you'll need to win some key coinflips...

yup i agree. you probably can handle one donk, but if your versus 8 donks on a table lol...
i have to say i started playing shorthanded tables, there seem to be more decent players or at least i have a better view.
even in the long run you still need 35-50% luck in my opinion.

I hope not Tongue

In long run it all comes down too skill, many countrys now try to convince their government that poker is a skill game/ betting game and NOT a gambling game (luck).

of course you need skill. i mean a total fool cant be a winning player if he has no knowledge about poker. still there is luck involved, its definatly not a 100% skill game.

Over a loooong period of time luck evens out.

A skillfull pokerplayer know the odds for winning and plays the hands were he is favorite to win. He also take advandage of tells and cardreading over the average player.

The problem is when all players are at the same level and there are no skilledge.

Well I can't say what it is.
Today for example I won 5 out of 6 games and I guess it was rather luck than skill. But also I think I didn't play to bad and I'm getting better slowly.

I can just hope it was rather skill than luck, so tomorrow will be good too Big Smile

More skill for cash games, less skill for tourns, a bit of luck for both
The less playes the more skill needed.
For most importance tourn games, without a bit of luck you aint gonna win.

I think on Tournaments in the end is the most of it luck. at the beginning of course not by building up a good stack.
Ring games is the better player the better one, not much chance of lucky-wins here (except the donkeys Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile)
