Full Tilt and PokerStars keep on growing

Tags: financial crises, full tilt poker, pokerstars.
Posted on 17 December 2009 by "T".

The 2 poker giants PokerStars and Full Tilt poker just keep on growing and growing. This year both of them have increased their customer base with 68%, and last week both of them reached a new milestone as they stood for 60% of all the poker traffic online. Its seems like it has paid off very well for these 2 sites to spend lots and lots of money on marketing and by offering the biggest monthly/weekly guarantee tournaments online.

However, its not just PokerStars and Full Tilt that have increased their traffic, since the traffic at all other poker sites has increased with 12%. In other words, its seems like the financial crises that has been going on for quite some time now hasn't stopped people from gambling. Now the question is: Has the traffic online increased because of the financial crises, or is it just a normal growth we are seeing?

Hell, 1 out of 2 players at FTP is American so that is really a huge advantage. Can't understand how Pokerstars got that far though, their software is real shit. Laggy and ugly.

When theres good times people gamble, and when theres bad times people gamble even more.

the american market is amassive amount of players for those 2 sites, anyway online poker is growing up a lot since few years, so there is no surprise in this news.

No surprise, FTP and Pokerstars are the best site. Promos, bonus, tournaments and tables and more tables of cash. No way other sites can fight to reach this position. If you like poker you must have an account in this two.

Bye and aces for all!!

Indeed, this really doesn't come as a surprise. They are both unsurpassed in terms of their software. I don't agree the promotions are great, in fact, they seem to be the ones which give out promotions sparingly (especially PS)

I dont like those sites :/
 dozn0117/12/2009 19:17:09 GMT
well with all the xtra money they have made they should give out money bonuses lol
 LaBaiz17/12/2009 19:59:03 GMT
I think that the traffic has increased due to players getting to play in bigger guaranteed tournaments, where they hope to cash in and try to change their life. Thats just my opinion.

There are alot of reasons why FTP and PS are the biggest badest sites available. Easy to use software that is pleasing to the eye, fantastic variety of games and limits, large volumes of traffic just to name a few. Other poker sites and networks can only be envious of these two heavyweights.
 haarten8718/12/2009 00:00:16 GMT
They should join together in a giant network Tongue

It could also be due to the fact that it's easier and less hassle to play in the comfort of your home than go to the casino. Look at the blinds of NL or any other poker games at the casinos vs the blinds online. You won't find micros and $1 - $5 Sng's at Casinos'. Plus dealing with the people in the casino can be a hassle at times

sure but all player will see thats ps and ft are rigged Blink

yeah lots more people are trying to win a little aswell. but every one cant be winning can they? but FTP and PS are cashing in i bet most of there revinue comes from the micro limits. ok low limits.

Really intersting news. Indeed, this two sites have made some king of really nice marketing : how much pro's they got in their teams (some of the best !).
Financial crise never reach gamblers ^^ so addictive
 Raggamann19/12/2009 19:08:32 GMT
mike tyson and poker, thats even more weird than signing boris becker (who showed his donkeystyle on german tv), i mean he never seemed to be a smart person i don't believe he is good at poker.
if it helps to bring fish to the tables its good, but otherwise ps should use the money in a better way

------------
oh, commentated the wrong article. but this news:
it shows how important marketing is for those sites, ps do sposors many big tournaments with media coverage and they do a good job bringing new people to play poker, i.e. with tv-shows like celebritypoker
full tilts strategy which is based on their professional players seems to work out well, too. the site is regularly mentioned in news articles because of the highstakes
 SuperNoob19/12/2009 23:21:40 GMT
i think the biggest reason for their success is that both of them are very trusted sites so new users are a bit comfortable playing there, and accepting americans is also a big factor

Maybe the financial crises increased because of the on-line traffic :O

The more gamblers there are the better. YIPEEE.

 Jordipsx20/12/2009 12:07:56 GMT
I think that FTP amd PS are the best online poker sites. Good Software, good tourneys and freerolle, a lot of tables and people playing.
 Myeng20/12/2009 13:13:35 GMT
I played always on ps, but didn't like it anymore, too many people, and donks always river you.
Now I started on full tilt, and I really like it, you get your fpp faster, and their academy is really a nice concept.
Ps can learn a lot of full tilt, think in a few years ft will take the lead from ps.
 Fakiry20/12/2009 23:04:55 GMT
Poker this year have grown up a lot, kids are starting to ask their parents to deposit their piggy money to starting playing in a more serious way. You can laugh about this but i heard of 18 year old people who did this!
 koneisto23/12/2009 01:52:05 GMT
competition is good for players. if there was only one big site dominating rake, bonuses, rakeback.. what would happen?
 oliver08229823/12/2009 14:41:44 GMT

 AA-Daelt-AA23/12/2009 15:06:34 GMT
at least for sure FTP will lose some players with all the stuff happenning around hasting/south/townsend, it's a very bad story for their network and reputation.
